The GM of the dealership that I have purchased my last 4 cars from ordered me the Tribute Edition Stinger since I told him that I felt like I got Okie Doked on my 2022 Ascot Green Stinger GT2 AWD, considering it was supposed to be the last year that they were making the car and the only year that they were going to make them in that color, and they came out with a 2023 model in the same color.

Well, the Tribute Edition arrived on Friday, but I'm not sure if I want it or not, because it is going to cost me at least $7k to wrap it in Xpel like I have already done my 22 Stinger,. Which I wrapped to preserve the paint, because they told me it was the last year and only year for the color.

I guess what pisses me off the most was that I already had a Singer, so I could have waited fr the 23 model, if I knew there was going to be a 23 model. So, I am conflicted whether to purchase the Tribute Edition and sink a bunch of money into it, or keep the one I already have that doesn't need me to do anything to it. What's your thought on it?

I think it depends on your trade in value and if you have any equity from your current financing.
I have equity on my loan but I put a large down payment and I’ve already put in in a lot for parts/labor.

Just depends how much you’re willing to lose. If the limited quantity in tribute attracts you it should hold some nice value if you don’t go the heavy mod route.

The tribute edition is a current model with a different colour scheme. I have never financed a vehicle. I have always paid cash so that should not decide whether you buy one.

Just look at it and see if it is what you want.

It will be worth nothing more than standard GT if you drive it.and put kilometres on it............

hilarious you couldn't read the future and now your complaining that your exclusive ascot green isn't anymore. don't worry about it somebody else will pick up 'your' tribute when you back out of it. your reputation down at the dealer will suffer that's all. my neighbor recently picked up a tribute that the prospective buyer backed out of because, quote, 'why can't I have a sixty thousand dollar car for $300 a month?' and so my neighbor is the beneficiary of that waffling. you don't want to be known as a waffler do you? but it can get expensive avoiding that.

They offered me $1, 000 less than Kelly Blue Book Trade In Value which was great. I put $7k down on my current Stinger. Plus another $6k wrapping it in Xpel to preserve the paint. So, it is a hard decision, but I'm probably going to pass on it.

That was another reason why I'm probably going to pass on it, because I do drive my cars, and that one would be no different. If I could afford to pay for two of them to be able to put the Tribute Edition up and not drive it, then I would do it but I can't afford both.

My reputation at my dealership doesn't hinge on whether or not I buy or don't buy the Tribute Edition, considering I have purchased 4 cars from them in the last 5 years. Plus, I feel like Kia screwed a lot of people by doing what they did, not just myself. Someone else will buy it, and it will cost them $10k more than it was going to cost me, so the GM was okay either way.

One last thing, I guess you are such a pushover that you would have been okay being lied to, but I am not okay with it. It is still special because it was the first year that they made the new changes to it, and unlike yours, not every other Stinger has the same color.

I'm no psychic but looking down the line, I doubt the Tribute would be worth more than say a low mileage gts. That car also has special paint but it also has the drift mode. The ascot green isn't even unique to the tribute as regular gt-line cars come in that color. Maybe the silver one with the matte finish would be worth more as that color never came on another Stinger but the ascot green is not rare. I've literally seen more ascot green cars than I've seen the first year yellow cars. Obviously those had paint issues but just saying.....me personally, I'd keep the one you have and call it a day, it's your money though.

The Tribute will not come to Australia as Kia Australia said the demand is already high here so they can sell every Stinger coming in. I see 19 brand new GT ones in my home city of Melbourne. In New Zealand across the ditch the Tribute is advertised for $100,000. Note they have no GTs. A Tribute ceramic grey with a hornet insignia on the headrest, fake carbon fibre dash, black Mags, mirrors and Brembo calipers and a numbered foot plate. Oh and it has a POO BROWN interior. Well there you go. SH**T colours all round.

It's funny that they stopped the Stinger and sales were increased :-)

I don't think they did enough changes to the Tribute to make it that much more sought after than a typical GT. I think what will matter down the road is how many miles the car has and if it has the 3.3TT engine or not.

and a clear history of no issues from mods.

They did the same thing that they did to the other "special edition" models..... basically just a lazy appearance package. Couldn't even be bothered to do all the same color trim on the gts, scorpion, grand tourer, nor the tribute. Indigo blue and gts have the drift mode at least.

Well. Bembro "R" is red.

How lazy was it to make it all black. Black tail pipes. Black mirrors. And a poo brown interior.

Now, if it was me, I would have done them all in a bright colour. Maybe that orange. Left the insignia Brembo brakes as it is. Done some tricks like remote roll down windows. Costs nothing. Added remote auto parking. Something. ANYTHING.

Anyway...........
