Hello all, I recently installed the BMS pedal tuner and I am now noticing on my JB4 gauges that my trans temp with start to go from 190-250 fairly quickly. Running JB4 MAP3 with 93 Octane, pedal tuner set to racing, in “Sport”drive mode, transmission temperature begins to sky rocket..!

Mod List:
JB4
BMS Intakes
Velossa Snorkels
BMS OCC
HKS Sparkplugs
BMS Pedal Tuner
Eibach Springs (not installed)
Eibach Sway Bars (not installed)
MBRP Pro Exhaust (not installed)

Get a bigger transmission oil cooler. It'll help preserve your transmission by keeping temps down.

Thats a great idea! Would the BMS Transmission Oil Cooler suffice?

It should. There are now a few options out there though. They should all do the same job. There's one by IMR and another on the Lap3 website as well.

Hmm okay, which do you suggest/prefer?

Guys with TCU tunes chime in; just like installing a shift kit in a trans reduces temps with faster shifts, shouldn’t the quicker shifts from a TCU tune have the same effect?

My solution which includes an external filter for easy change.

That is pretty cool idea! But I've noticed some pipes zipped to intercooler. I'm guessing, for extra cooling. How does that work?

Whoever is cheapest.

They all pretty much do the same job. I have the BMS because I got a good deal on it. IMR does quality work. LAP3 doesn't promote junk. I have parts/tunes from all 3 and for the most part I've been mostly happy with them and customer support.

That was a nitrous intercooler bar but I've since abandoned that.

Update, I just installed the CSF Transmission Cooler. Easy install, was a direct swap, the shroud will require some trimming though.

In normal driving the temps hover around 160f, if I floor it the temps will go up slightly and then come back down to 160f.

Its doing a great job, in fact I think its probably too cool. Lets see how it will be in peak summer.

Agree with this logic, but would also like to hear real-world results.

More curious is that @stngr_gbrl didn't mention a TCU tune, just the pedal tuner, and I can't imagine how remapping the throttle sensitivity would make transmission temps skyrocket. Unless he suddenly started flooring it everywhere, or already had high temps and just hadn't noticed the JB4 gauges before.

160 is not too cool
