I am thinking about getting a GT1 RWD but I know the suspension will need work. It sounds like the Eibach Pro-Kit is actually pretty good, but I know I will want more negative camber up front and nobody makes a standalone camber plate for these cars.

So I guess my question is.... any experience with any of the available coilovers on track? I read someone's review of the KW V3s and apparently they have a noise problem in the rear. What a shame. Coming from JDM land I haven't heard of any brands for this car, but I am leaning towards the ARK DT-Ps. Reasonable spring rates and they seem somewhat reputable

Most members on the forum have stuck with springs because coilovers remove the adjustable dampers that the car comes with. What kind of racing are we talking about? Just an open track day?

Yea just HPDEs. Nothing crazy. I am not that bothered about the adjustable suspension.

I would start with eibach front and rear sway bars, if you want to go a step further you could do the coilovers. For a track day like that I'd be more concerned with your brake pads, you'll want to swap in a more aggressive pad otherwise you'll experience brake fade pretty quickly on the stock pads.

Yea pads and fluid are definitely on the list. Thankfully everything else looks OK

I will do more research on exactly where more bracing is needed. Sounds like the rear needs to be stiffened up due to the hatch, which makes sense.

Bingo, mostly the back because of the hatch. You'll be surprised how much the sway bars stiffen the front end, they don't stiffen the feeling in the back as much but help a ton with bodyroll back there.

So just to confirm.... nobody makes front camber plates for these cars?

Nope, you'll be just outside of green for camber on the front. Unless you get coilovers with the adjustment.

In a similar vein - just tore up some PS4s after 5 track days, outside front driver's side, a few small pieces tore off. Rest of the tire still seems almost new - I'm guessing that some negative camber would help with that?

Do these Eibach bolts do anything the factory bolts can't? I'm not lowered, just Whiteline sways + Mando. The info blurb says lowering the car adds negative camber, so would lower the car actually help? Still trying to learn about tires, track vs. street alignment, etc.

Edit: never mind - looks like carid dropped the "stinger" part of the search when I clicked on these. They're only made for the Kia Rio..

Wonder if some offset lower bushes from SuperPro might impart sufficient camber for the front…

Damn you, Macpherson Strut!

[clenches fist, shakes it ominously]

Now, where’d that pipe bender go?
