Got a flat today, swapped the spare on and got a local shop to repair and reinstall the tire. Everything seems fine except everytime the car starts it takes about 10miles of driving before it will display the psi again. Anyonr has this issue before?

Well i dont know if your overeacting but after 3 flats tire changes mine takes maybe 2 km.. even after the flat was fixed still came back within 3 km

Yeah but mine goes through the process at every engine start now, not just the first time the wheel was put back on. Does yours not display the psi immediately at startup now?

Im scared of potholes now so my display is always on wheels.. yes every statt up u need to drive a bit before they display... before i used to have it on the G-force so i never noticed if its like that originally

10 miles to display psi is excessive. Probably something buggy about that one sensor. But as long as it keeps working, it might improve. You know how these fangled things are. :P

It probably just wasn't something you noticed before. If I start the car and switch to the tire pressure screen before driving, it shows a message that states it has to be driven before pressures will be displayed.

I expect it's a battery saver in the wheel TPMS units, that hibernates them when parked for a set period, then wakes them up when they detect motion again. It would just run the internal batteries down if they were continually broadcasting while the car was parked, and they're not easy to access for a battery swap.

The units on my last motorcycle were the same way, though those were external sensors that screwed on to the schrader valve instead of a conventional cap.

Thanks guys, I think you're right. I think I just didn't notice that it takes a little while before the pressure shows at each startup. I was thinking that only happened when new TPMS were initially added.
