Hello all,

I hope someone can help me answer this question because I feel cheated by Kia. I brought a Kia GT awd with the enhance safety package. Instead of receiving the 19in staggered wheels pilot sport tires, I received 18in bridgestone with 225s in the back and not sure what is in the front because its not labelled on the side of the tire. Now I'm at a limited top speed of 130 mph because of the bridgestone tires. I would like to know why. Why isn't Kia making this clear to buyers. If you take the awd option the performance is limited. You buy a Kia stinger and get less than an Optima. Can someone answer this question for me.

Kia makes it clear on their website when you spec out 18" wheels. The dealers are not pointing it out.

Technically, in some parts of the globe, the GT AWD is being sold with 19" wheels and tires. When a car comes from the factory with 18" wheels and tires, Kia limits the top speed due to the speed rating of the 18" tires that they install on the car. For them, I'm sure it's for liability issues. For many owners, it's a sore spot. There are other posts on this if you'd like to read up and/or join in. Also, feel free to call Kia and let them know how you feel!

when did you buy your stinger? it sounds like your scumbag dealer didn't let you know. they can't say they haven't been informed. by now everybody and their grandmother's grandmother knows about this.

don't even bother asking I got the screwing to 134 mph I got and the dealer didn't inform me either these days you cant buy a car without relying on the internet first, so don't rely on the people that actually sell the car some people understand our pain on the forums and don't like that there stinger has a limp dic* like mine and some say we should of asked siri on our iPhone and googled it first about the car. the majority of us that have been bamboozled WILL find a way to override this even if it takes running two different ECU and proper speed rated tires. I myself am from the old school I want human to human contact I drove by the dealer and saw the stinger fell in love and asked all my questions there I didn't use siri or google but I guess I must be forced to join the millennial generation and not rely on the "experts" aka the humans anymore. IF YOU FIND A RESOLUTION PLEASE SHARE IT WITH ALL OF US THAT GOT ROYALY FUC*ED.

you could deff say a sore spot more like an open wound with salt being rubbed into it lol. the people that don't think its a big deal most likely didn't get the old shaftaru and have a gorgeous stinger with a limp dic*

All you had to do was go to the KIA website in the US and check what was standard and what was an option before buying the model you ordered, ie. get some basic info on the vehicle you are going to be spending tens of thousands on before you actually buy it. If you had done that you would have seen that the 19 inch wheels and tyres are an option on your model GT in the USA

Make "ït clear to buyers". It could not be clearer on the website - which is there "for buyers".

The trouble with so many people in the West now is that they want to be spoon fed and if they are not they complain.

They MUST have gotten flack, because of the Emerson Fitapaldi commercial. You notice that they still have it in fine print though.

That's my problem I asked all my questions to a human being the salesman ya know like you used to do in the 80's and 90's I should know better now a days siri and google know more than a "trained professional" I'm being forced to become a millennial and I'm not liking it. I said what I needed to say about this let down. KIA has been informed about my let down and LACK of knowledge from the "pros" they have compensated me, now the dealer will do there part. mock my words my stinger WILL have its sting back. Also just so everyone knows KIA is being flooded with people like me who don't rely on siri and google and they are well aware that the people "dealers" the "pros" representing them are failing miserably at selling there car I'm willing to bet in the next batch that comes to the dealers it will say that the speed is limited in big bold letters and numbers on the window sticker right under all season tire package.

I bought my Stinger GT2 in January and thought I had done all the proper research as well. I hadn't even heard of an 18" wheel option. After I bought my Kia, I found out about the tire issue and went back to the dealer. I was told by the sales manager that all the AWD Stingers came with 18" tires...which made no sense. I have complained to Kia Motors but it is a done deal. I feel very deceived as well. I already have 12000 on my Stinger and will have to deal with it. May head to a certified performance shop next year and have the engine chipped and the governor removed. I know I will void the engine but I want the car I paid for. I have a 2013 Optima SXL that can go faster than my 52K car.

Since I was one of the first buyers, I was not aware of the tire options and when questioned after the fact, the sales manager flat out lied and told me that the AWD models only come with the 18" rims. I have spent $120K on cars from this dealership, RK Kia in Vineland NJ over the last 7 years. I will never buy another car from them again.

Found my original Stinger GT2 brochure I picked up in December....guess what guys?? It does NOT mention that this vehicle will be governed at 130. I will quote from the brochure directly since I can't screen shot right now...

Preliminary performance estimates for Stinger GT with rear wheel drive using launch control and equipped with 19 inch wheels. Actual results may vary depending on options, driving conditions, driving habits and vehicle condition. Do not attempt to verify these results on public roads. Always drive safely and obey all traffic laws.

That disclaimer pertains to the wording:

"The Stinger GT accelerates to 60 MPH in 4.7 seconds. Pushing the twin-turbocharged V6 will allow the Stinger GT to achieve a governed top speed of 167 MPH."

@Ginccop: My brochure clearly says: (18" all-season tires available separately w/reduced top speed). And I've seen this "warning" elsewhere, but it isn't exactly front and center stage, is it?

My sticker fails to mention the reduced speed as well but the new ones are clearly marked.

It's on the wheels page, under "AWD PACKAGE". It's the last page in the book.
