I just got my 3rd oil change at the dealership today. When it was done, the rep. informed me that my rear tires will have to be replaced soon. She threw out a number like 3 or 4.. .whatever it was. She said one more number down and they have to change them. Here's my issue, the car has 14k, and it's an AWD. They have the 19's offset with the 4 series, not the 4s. Is this normal? Are you other AWD guys and gals out there experiencing the same thing? Most of the miles are Highway too... I just seems kind of low miles to have to swap tires!

The rear tires on staggered setups get half the treadlife warranty; which on a PS4 is 30K miles, so, it looks like you are hitting exactly the 15K miles mark. I got about that many out of my OE PS4 rear tires too; my front tires lasted another c. 4K miles.

That's why I purchased a 2nd set of staggered wheels and tires. I can get normal wear and do full tire rotations.

Explain that please? Did you buy all 8.5" rims?

I bought an entire 2nd set of OEM staggered wheels and tires. So now I have 4 of the wider 8.5" rear wheels with Michelin tires and 4 of the narrower 8" front wheels with Michelin tires. I took the four 8" front wheels and tires and put them all on my car so I could do full tire rotations. Once the tires wear on that set I will put the wider 8.5" wheels with tires on my car. I'll get some spacers for the front two though so they don't rub inside the fender.

The rear tires with the staggered setup definitely wear fast. I think it's also pretty well documented that the factory recommended psi is part of the problem. I noticed that the centers of the tires are clearly wearing faster than the outside so I've moved to a lower psi in the rear than they suggest to see if that helps extend the tire life.

I'll comment: full set of 8" wheels and full set of 8.5" wheels, means two sets of wheels that can be rotated. In a winter environment the 8" with A/S or winter tires would be best, because narrower tires grip in snow better than wider tires do. That would leave the 8.5" set for summer tires. :) That's how I would do it, if I had two sets of staggered OE 19" wheels.

Last question.. To make up the .5" difference I would image a 6 or 7mm spacer would do the trick? It only has to be 1/2 the .5". Thoughts?

I think most people who put the wider wheels and tires up front were using 15mm spacers. The rear tires are 255mm or 10" wide vs. the front tires are 225mm or 8.6" wide.

I haven't purchased the spacers yet since I'm only at 6,300 miles after a year of ownership and still trying to wear out the first set of tires. I drive to work less now and own another vehicle so the miles are taking a while to add up.

My fronts are originals at 29k miles and in need of changing, they're very worn. I'll be doing that before the rainy season hits here. I changed my rears at around 18k because I got a puncture but they looked like they could have gone a lot further. The rears I have on now look like they're still pretty good. I don't really scorch the tires much, I'm sure if I was using launch control or drifting more often they'd probably be cooked a lot faster, lol.

Edit: I have a RWD GT2 on the OEM staggered setup, and I've had the tires rotated side to side once, if anyone's wondering

Wow, you're right. All this time, I thought that the PS4 also had a 30K miles treadlife warranty. It's only 20K miles! I got really exceptional service out of mine, then. Still sucks, only getting less than 15K miles out of a set of rear tires. This would explain why my PS4S rears are wearing better than the OE rear tires did. I was beginning to wonder. Hah.

And what psi is that please for front and back?

I think I dropped the fronts by 2psi and the rears by 4psi but I can't remember exactly and I have my winter wheels/tires on now.

For now I have a full set of 19's - 8" Winters...did not think about full 8.5" for summer...That's an idea...

Anyone have any other suggestions for tires? My rears are at the 15k mark and my dealership is asking 410 per wheel. 820 for tires that lasts only 15k miles is expensive. I live in NY and we do get down pours and snow but these tires are pretty decent in snow. Just want some comparable but wont break the bank.
