Tire shelf life

Shelf life is not the same thing as life on a car out in the sun. I give those tires six years. Shelf life, who knows how many more? But it's easy to see if a tire is drying out: cracks, you know.

I'm somewhat particular about my tires. When buying new, I won't buy anything older than a year. My cars don't rack up huge miles, so I want a tire as fresh as possible. When I had the bike, I'd go through 2-3 sets a tires a season (20K+), so age didn't matter as much. Still, they'd come from reputable sources with large tire volume sales.

Ari used to be one of the lead reviewers in motorcyclist magazine. Weird to see him on revzilla now.
