Will a 255/35r20 and a 275/35r20 be too much of a difference for awd? Do the rears need a 30 aspect ratio? Or the fronts 245s

You're right at 2% difference OD. That's maxed out for AWD safety. Some/many won't advise this. I have no empirical experience, only what I've read. Somebody can get on here and tell you what the difference is in rotation per mile, that's probably even a more important indicator. I do know that OEM difference is only 2mm, a c. .03% difference if I've done the math right.

im eyeballing a set of used wheels and tires. Guy says he ran that size on his awd for 2 years with no issues. Just seems like a big height difference to me.

The difference is 14mm higher in the back, which looks right. And as the staggered wear faster in the back, the whole time you'll be decreasing the OD difference, i.e., it'll be less than 2% difference. Probably this all works just fine. Curious what the widths of the rims are, and offsets?

im still debating. needs a taller tire up front.

What size tires you running? Lowered, awd?
RWD but my tires are equal in diameter so they would work perfectly on AWD
245/35/20 and 285/30/20 no rubbing.
Continental contact extremes
Lowered on coilovers

Nice. It looks perfect. Think 295 30 would fit in the rear? That's what I would need to get a similar diameter

Guys I've read these threads "ad nauseam" And I still don't totally understand all the off-sets etc. I'm looking to stay at 19" for ride quality, I would like to be at stock height, would like accurate speedo (Off by 1mph isn't an issue), as close to flush as possible, NO rubbing or poke, and get some damn meat on the pavement! I'm RWD and my ass end is all over the place right now. Below is the setup I'm looking at, and would like a blessing from the Pro's. How does this setup look considering the above. Thanks in advance for the advice.

If you are not wanting to be "all over the place", why go A/S? Go summer UHP. I see the "Y", which of course is UHP, but lacks the grip of summer tires. Also, 285 is too wide for a 9.5 rim. The upper limit for sidewall stability is 275. But probably being A/S they will break loose before lacking sidewall stiffness is noticed. Ima no pro, though.

Yes I think I will go with the Pilot sport, and then keep my current factory setup for winter. So I need to drop to a 275? So 275/30/19? Thanks again.

How much “harsher” is the ride with 20’s instead of 19’s? Maybe I should just go with this setup as well. Looks fantastic.

A 275/30/19 should work. It's slightly less of a match for 245/35/19, about 0.3" difference in height vs. 0.1", but both of those are reasonable (stock difference is 0.1").

By comparison, when people upgrade their rears to 275s while leaving the stock fronts at 225/40/19, they have to choose between /35s which are 0.5" taller, or /30s which are 0.6" shorter. Probably not the end of the world, about a 2% difference, and the rule of thumb I've seen is to keep it under 3%.

You can play around with different combinations here:

Thank you! I’ve gone down the rabbit hole now. I’ll come up for air soon. Seems to be a lot of conflicting information about what is actually best.

I ended up with a 293 30 in the rear. A bit of wheel gap, but I like it.
