Hey guys, '19 GT2 RWD here... I had to replace my OEM rears about 6 months back. Went with Pilot Sport 4s Max P Summers. Fronts still had some miles to go, but now they need to be replaced... unfortunately the PS4s are hard to find at the moment and cost quite a bit more than competitors (100+ more per tire)... Q is this: any reason not to put Conti ExtremeContact Sport Max P summer's on the fronts when I've got Pilot Sport 4s on the back and save ~200 bucks? I know it's not a huge deal to have a brand mis-match. Not tracking the car, just spirited daily driving. Mostly curious if anyone had any experience with splitting the front & rears between contis & michelins. Thanks!

Do it right. Sell the other 2.

It's not the normal everyday driving wouldn't be a concern, but rather when you're railing that corner at high speed.

I wouldn't, I'd do what @JSolo advises. But, that said, a RWD is not going to be as affected by mixed tread patterns front and rear, as an AWD. I'd try it first, and if nothing shows a negative result, go for it: if you feel anything "funny" in your handling, then do as advised and replace all four with the Contis. Good luck!

How much tread has been used on the rears since they were installed? If they're halfway through, then maybe just replace the fronts with a used set instead of new and then get all 4 matching later? Or sell the rears and get all 4 the same tire now.

If not much tread has been eaten on the rears, then I don't think it matters. Not AWD as Merlin said, so not important they close to matching diameters.

Yeah... maybe used fronts is the best. Rears have about 6k miles on em.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Or like @JSolo says, maybe sell and match all 4.

Mismatching brands front/rear will cause ZERO problems - all else being equal.

However, why do it just to save $200?

This. Front and rear traction is not even the same to start with, these cars, like most OEM cars, understeer wildly from the factory, as it's the safer situation compared to oversteer that might swap ends, but you aren't going to get into oversteer simply by using a different set of front tires, contact patch, width and everything else will play into it. Now, going to wildly different tires like a hard AS in the rear and soft max performance in the front isn't going to be a good idea, but matching the tire type/tread-wear generally is not a problem and tire shops just want to scare you into buying more tires.

Ive got Ps 4's on the front and Bridgestone potenza's S001's on the rear absolutely no issues.
