Only gripe I have with the interior of the Australian GT, there’s really no where to easily place your connected iPhone without having to rest it upon part of the trim and marking it while using Apple CarPlay. A USB under the armrest would have been neater, and no more unsightly cables.
I recall him drilling a hole to run the USB cable. I have two problems with that - drilling a hole in a still new car (even if hidden) and possibly rattly USB cable running in the console. Otherwise I'd say I'd likely do that mod.

My XS Max fits in the space for the wireless charger but it’s snug with the case on the phone. If you rest it there and run the usb for Apple CarPlay go into the settings on the dash (via the steering wheel controls) and disable the wireless charger otherwise it’ll cook the phone as the usb still charges while running CarPlay

I agree. Perfectly fine to have a functional USB up front and a USB charger in the rear, but there should also be a functional USB under the armrest. And if there is to be only one functional, then it should be the one under the armrest, especially considering how well most phones fit in the space in front of the armrest, and the length of most cords are either too short or too long for the current location.
If you’re not using CarPlay just leav it on the wireless charger and run the phone over Bluetooth it works well and you don’t have the issue of the cable. Personal choice. I tend to run the radio most of the time so I don’t use CarPlay much.

Do you touch your phone at all while driving?
It's a huge advantage and you can do everything from setting an alarm to creating sub routes on your GPS mid drive.
Define: hardly a big loss.
I would hope not to need an alarm while driving as usually I’m awake lol. As for text messages I can still get Siri to do it or just wait until I’m at the other end. If it’s urgent they’ll call me in which case the Bluetooth works well
