I notice people here are still buying the Stingers and don't seem to be concerned about the 2 recalls. Others that have the 2019's that are being recalled do seem concerned. How does Kia know that the 2020 and 2021 Stingers are not affected by these fire hazards? Did Kia build the 2020 and the 2021 models differently. I was looking at the 2021 GT but I am concerned that after I spend 40K+ that it may also have a fire hazard as it seems many Kia's in general have potential fire hazards. Plus I can't really get the Stinger with the 3.3 TT the way I want it. I dislike sun roofs as at some point they will be a problem, they are like roofs with gutters they get plugged up by small pieces of debris etc. Sun roofs also rattle and break. The GT comes with no sunroof but I don't think the radio is the best although some on the forum say they think it is a good radio. I use USB drive for all my music and I have read of problems with the USB drives. I guess all cars have some problems and I know that 40K is not very expensive in the car world. I have never paid that much for a car and would never buy a pickup truck as they are extremely over priced. I always liked Maxima's but they have there own fire issues again how can Nissan say that the 2016 to 2018 can burn but not the 2019 and 2020. If they don't know the exact reason for the fires they can't say that. Nissan just says they may know what the problem is. I really like the performance of the Stinger V6 not so much the 2.0. Once the 2.5 turbo comes along that will be a big improvement but the 3.3 is the motor for me. The odds are not high of this affecting your Stinger but if it does the odds don't matter. Are the Stingers being lower hard to get in and out of? Some of things I have mentioned before I have been looking but tough to find a car without problems.

You could just carry a fire extinguisher in your cars, or install a halon system. Maybe a Simpson drag racing suit.

Look, what are the chances of it happening? The same as an aircraft falling on you? Just buy the car you want, quit worrying about shit that wont happen to you.

Also, do not open the sunroof, you shouldn't have to worry about the drainage 'problem'.

Impossible to find "a car" (model/make) without problems. Kia is high on the reliability and quality scale. Fires? The first time I heard about a particular car associated with fire hazard was the Pinto. What, six of them had gas tanks cause a fire? But that's what got spread around. And my VW Beetle had a dash short that filled the cabin with smoke. I pulled over and shut it down immediately. This potential fire hazard is extremely rare and doesn't look like that is going to change.

Dont forget Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptors, they would catch fire when rear ended at high speeds. They were the only cars at the ime that were protected against fuel tank leaks/fires up to 80MPH. Now the current Ford Explorer PI are also protected that way.

I purchased a brand new Pinto back in the days two weeks prior the gas tank cause a fire recall. It was a long scary five years driving that thing.

Reminds me of the overhyped IMS bearings on Porsche. I'm not worried, and I have a 911 and a Stinger... :)

I bought a $25 fire extinguisher and still drive it. The recall just reminded me of basic safety equipment to have in any car (or house for that matter). At the end of the day- like @Silvermanor said- stats matter.

The fire recall is not concerning at all to me. As said above, stats matter. The 2019 recall is 6 cars have caught fire out of thousands sold in NA? I'll take the "risk". That is what insurance is for after-all.

More concerning to me is Kia's incompetence when it comes to fixing common issues like the sunroof rattle you mentioned. Owners shouldn't have to DIY fix their sunroof and rear hatch to stop rattles because the Dealer's are incompetent and keep the car for weeks/months without fixing the problem.

That said, not every car has those issues and they're relatively minor gripes for a very good car. Buy one and enjoy it before they are discontinued.

I just opened my recall letter and I too have a 2019 Stinger. My Stinger has felt and still feels built to last longer than any of the BMWs I’ve previously leased—most of which eventually had engine issues luckily covered under warranty. No knock on BMW in general, still a great brand and I’m sure perhaps I was unlucky. Point is, from my experience driving a tiny percentage of cars out there over the years, this Stinger feels more built to last so fingers crossed.
