The KIA Stinger Sold Surprisingly Well in America last year.

I read the article. I definitely agree with the analysis, especially the statement that "One of the straightest comparisons is the $45,000 Audi A5 Sportback, which doubles as the Stinger's chief inspiration." As many A5 coupes and convertibles that you see, I'm betting Stinger outsold the Sportback by quite a bit. That' saying a lot. And, IMO the most direct comparison to the Stinger GT is the S5 Sportback. As I looked to buy, I really coveted the S5 Sportback but didn't want to drop that kind of coin. I was all-but decided to buy either the A5 Sportback or an Infiniti Q50 Sport... until I drove the Stinger GT2! The power blew them away, and comparably equipped, the A5 would still have been more $. I feel like I got all that the S5 offered (less some "status" and a 1/2-notch drop in interior quality), for close to $20K less. That was probably the #1 factor when I decided to buy it.

Would say that it's likely the A5/S5 Sportback still outsold the Stinger, but not by a whole lot (coupe and convertible sales have fallen over the years).

Love seeing this. While I enjoy having a unique car, I still like knowing Kia is selling them!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I wanted the A5 Sportback when I first heard of it years ago, knowing it was coming stateside and seeing the reviews, it was on my list but when the Stinger came out it had competition. I drove the Stinger first and after seeing that the A5 was 4 cylinder only and comparatively equipped, more than the Stinger, I knew the Stinger had the win but had to go drive it anyway. It felt good and handled well with it’s power ratings (248 hp/273 tq), that led me to try the Premium (even lower priced) and it was decent but felt it lacked power compared to how the Audi delivered it but not far off in cabin quiet and ride feel but I couldn’t stand the noise on bad roads that the Bridgestones produced, plus I wanted the power trunk and heads up display and the smoothness and power of the V6 that could be had for a bargain price compared to the A5/S5.

I’m loving the GT2 and the great price I got it for, can’t complain about that. As more people get to experience these, they will be more buyers. I think it will be like the Optima with a slow out the gate adoption but pick up once folks find out what you can get for the price and how it compares with the competition.
