LOL! Now that you mention it, I can see a slight resemblance, especially with the angle they have that second photo at. That is not the actual stance of the vehicle though, the straightening of that photo wasn't done correctly. I like this look better than the original and I also like what the new K8 (formerly Cadenza) looks like as well.
I think it's a well-balanced design. The Stinger looks ready to go fast just sitting still. This is ready to roll quietly and smoothly. Nice looking car (for a trunk).
Lol! Sedans are losing their popularity here in the US however, in Korea they sell a lot of these still. See them at airports there as limousines, higher end limos as the Cadenza also are used as limos and taxi’s there. I did consider one when I wrecked my first Stinger but for the money, the G80 was quieter inside than the K9, although the K9 had the more updated interior and tech, it just didn’t quite have that quietness I was expecting. Of course we know the ones we get in the US don’t get the same treatment as the Korean version, much like the Stinger vs the G70. Sadly, they are no longer selling the K900 here, nor the Cadenza (K8) so we won’t be seeing the benefits of the upgraded versions.
The interior was really luxurious and they should have figured out a way to keep the original headlights. That feature was a stand out look for it. That sort of vehicle (limo use) would be good for an EV platform. Can’t wait to see the other stuff from KIA on the E-GMP platform.
This definitely looks very Lincoln. The front is very Ford Fusion. The back reminds me a bit of an MKZ (mainly the light bar thing, but everyone is doing that these days).
Yep, one of the reasons I considered it was for the rear seat space. The one with the VIP seating package had less legroom than our Optima and those were the only ones that dealers in my area that sold them, ordered. Now it’s gone from the US lineup, those who got one got lucky.
It shares platform with the Stinger and Genesis vehicles but they did make them look different enough though. I preferred the headlights from the pre-facelift version more.
Here is a video of the new K9 in Korea, the side view shows it is similar to the old version with the exception of some changes to the front end and rear taillight design.
Still a nice ride. Sad that it didn't get more traction here in the states.
