Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and new to Kia ownership. I just purchased a 2018 Stinger GT2. Mine was built in April and had the older Map software. I contacted Kia customer support and asked for a map upgrade since a new one was available. Since I just purchased the car, I felt it should be free vs. the $145 they charge on-line. They agreed to give me a one-time free upgrade. Well, I just received and upgraded the software and it now offers the ability to display and read text messages via the head unit over Bluetooth. I was surprised this was not a native feature of the head unit as every car I have owned since 2012 had this feature. Now it seems Kia has listened. What is interesting is that if you look at the new features listed for the 12.5 software update...this is not listed. Part number for the update is 126S5. Is it worth $145...that is up to you to decide or you can sweet talk Kia customer support.
