I just bought one of these to replace the Add1 unit and I am having small issues after the car is parked. I have determined that it seems to be venting a bit on the intake connection. After the car sites a while and you get back I smell it inside when I start the car. I also smell it a bit in the garage.

I am having trouble getting the hose on the intake side all the way on. Unlike the ADD1 catch can this thing does not have a larger hose for the intake side even though the nipple is a larger diameter here than the PVC side.

How did you get this side on without the hose splitting. It real tight and hard to get on. Is there a specific type of lubricant that helps? This seems to be not the best engineering on this unit to me.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

My advice is to reuse the stock hosing where you can, thats what i did and it worked out well. I can tell you that the SXTH Element Dual OCC is prob the best on the market and i think the engineering on this unit is 2nd to none. I love mine

Looks like a got one where the groove where the O-ring is is cut too deep resulting in not totally sealing the bottom part of the can totally. When I screw it on it just hits metal I never feel it hit the o_ring and tighten it from there. They said they will replace it but they are out of stock right now.

Did you ever get the hose diameter problem resolved? I installed mine quite a while ago and had no problems like what you're describing with the hoses.... Mine came with 2 different sized hoses. There was no stretching/difficulty installing them, whatsoever.

If it's helpful, I did a write-up on my install over at the Genesisowners forum, here: 3.3T - SxthElement Catch Can install + review

Also, if you scroll to the last page (page 3) of my review I also go over my own problems with having crankcase vapors in the engine bay.

Mine only came with one diameter hose. The smaller one. I am using the original hose, it is bigger on one end and smaller on the other. I am connecting the larger part to the intake hookup and there smaller end to the check valve.

Ah. Well, you can always get larger diameter hose from any auto parts store, or Amazon. Do you want me to check and see if I can find the diameter of the larger hose that came with mine?

The diameter on the outlet of the can is smaller than the diameter of the connector at the intake. If you go with a larger diameter hose how do you seal it correctly at the can side? No need to do this as the stock hose has the right diameter to git not he intake and the right smaller diameter at the other end to fit correctly on the check valve. Just substituting about 10" of the small tube for the stock hose that was originally run between the PVC and intake connectors.

I believe the kit should have come with the right size of hoses or at least have the connector on the can larger diameter than the connector on the PVC side of the can. Other cans have done that.

Give them a call or an email. If they left out a part they’ll send it out. My kit came with two 1/2” and two 3/8” hoses.

They sent the right parts as far as hoses go. I found the 1/2 hose to be very tight on the nipple located on the intake. I used silicone lubricant like they recommended. It was stretching the hose to the point of it splitting. I was afraid I would break the plastic nipple due to this which would be expensive to fix. So I just reset the OEM hose and connected the smaller end that was originally connected to the PVC valve to the output side of the check valve. Works great and I am not worried about breaking the intake manifold.

I am waiting on a new top half of the catch can as the groove for the O-ring is too deep resulting in it not contacting the lower part of the can when screwed on. I can smell it venting slightly after the car is parked. They said I would feel the lower half hit rubber when I screw it on, I don't, it just seats on metal and can be tighter about 1mm after that.

Can I ask why u switched out the ADD1?

I felt it was relatively ineffective, I had it on for about 3K miles and it barely caught anything. This one has caught more in 1K miles. Also the check valve issue some have seen. This new unit seems to catch more and be of higher quality, although I am having a QC issue with the venting at the can.

Edit: thought that question was for me since I replaced my ADD as well.

I think all of my past reviews of the ADD V3 catch cans have been purged, but put simply, it’s a cheaply made version at a price relative to much better options like the Mish and Sxth cans.

I can elaborate in detail if you like.

It’s the Chevy Cavalier of catch cans at Cadillac prices.

The universal ADD can I bought for my Tacoma was $85 on eBay.

Crap, maybe I need to rethink my purchase on the ADD1 can that I have shipping as we speak. The $159 price seemed like a decent price compared to the others?

I think the dual inlet is a worse value than that one, but for a little more you could have had a Mishimoto.
