Suede vs Nappa leather

I like the clean look of leather more than black/red combo of suede pack, but I've heard that quality of nappa leather in Stinger isn't that good.

What are your thoughts? What would you choose?

Nappa is more supple and can permanently wrinkle easier than leather, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The regular leather is good. I think that mine is holding up well. I don't know what you mean by "suede pack"; is that a European interior option?

Seems to be and also in Canada, it's a trim above the GT Elite here (GT2 for you guys) for like 400$ish more on top of the price. All it replaces, is the dash is in suede and the seats are hybrid with suede inserts and leather side bolsters with red seat belts.

Are the seats full suede? Reason I ask is because as nice as suede is new, it does not age well. I have a 2001 Ford Lightning. Granted, it's 20 years old now but the seats are mainly suede with leather inserts, usually, it's the other way around. The areas on the seats that see the most abuse, wear a lot. Much more than leather I feel. I wonder how cars are that have the alcantara steering wheels. How do they hold up over time?

Say what? Our red Nappa seats are not real? I thought the only parts that are Nappa are the parts you sit on and lean against. the rest is vinyl. But I'm no expert.

I am no expert either. Just looking up close atbthe 'leather'. The 'threads' are not real threads, there is no grain to them, compared to that one inch strip. I will try to scrape some of the 'leather' in a non visible area. This would explain why nobody i emailed at Kia could/would tell me which parts of the seats were leather.

You're serious with your "one inch strip"! I thought you were joking.

The seat and seatback are leather. I don't know about the headrest. The rest of the interior is "leatherette" of some high quality kind.

On page 19 of the Kia Stinger promo book it says: "Leather as Standard. And every Stinger model - even the entry Stinger 2.0T starting at under $32,000 - comes with rich leather trim as standard."

Lol. You're saying a single one inch wide strip somewhere on the seat defines "rich leather trim"?

Have you gotten down serious and close to the stitching? Mine, all of it, from bolsters to headrest, even door panels, dash and shifter skirt, is real: I can push it with my fingernail. And I don't even have the deluxe Nappa.

I think most cars only have
Leather on the part you sit on. My wife has a VW Atlas with Nappa and the seat part is really nice, but it’s pretty easy to see the rest of the seat is fake leather. I do think the non leather parts of our Stingers still look and feel Pretty good though.

When I got my Soul, about 2 miles down the freeway the steering wheel became so hot I really couldn't hang on to it. Had to sort of pinch it with one hand, then the other hand (like those lizards walk on the hot sand). Couldn't find the on/off switch. Finally had to pull off the freeway and hunt for it. Found it down by my left knee and got it turned off. But - it defaulted to ON. Every time I started the car, I had to turn it off. Finally tracked down the fuse and pulled it. Deep south Texas doesn't need heated steering wheels in the middle of what passes for winter here.

So happy to get my Stinger GT2 and discover it didn't have a heated wheel at all.

Huh? How does your gt2 not have a heated steering wheel? My base gt has it. Did they replace the wheel with the carbon fiber one?

I used my heated steering wheel just yesterday, it's not even really cold yet. It was about 43 degrees in the morning when I went out to the car. The time you'll really need the heated steering wheel and seats is in oh, lets say 4-5 months when it's -43 out.

I don't really think that's indicative of other vehicles. I've had a pretty wide variance of heated and ventilated seats, some work better than others, but I've never had a steering wheel that gets all that "hot". IMO, for exactly the reason you state, that you don't really ever want one that is too hot to touch. The one in my stinger works, it's great, it doesn't get too hot.
