Took these off last week, just noticed this weird wear on them. Strangely enough, it's only on one side, and only both of the rear tires. Is this normal? 5500 miles on them.

If you glide your hand over the tread, does it undulate or is it smooth. Could be a bad toe adjustment. Better tire guys than I will probably weigh in here.

Just went out and looked at my rear tires, they look perfect to me. Rubber looks very smooth and shiney. No pits or cracks. Have about 1k miles less than the pictures.

Yeah, they feel perfectly smooth, no uneven wear either.

Gets your hands filthy, sorry, should have warned you. Rubbing with the tread, not across, will give you the best take on whether it's smooth or not. Certainly can talk to your dealer or a quality tire store about it!

How much drifting are you doing?

Myself? Like, once, in the rain. Lol. I actually wonder if the dealer drifted it and did this. The cracks are on the inside of the Left tire, and on the outside of the Right (only the middle ridges) Hmmmm...

If that's the case, I'll wear through the cracks soon enough.

Looks like toe might be out of spec, factory spec has the rear slightly toed in for stability, but shouldn't cause wear like this unless you've abused the rear... Launches, slides etc. If you're rough on the rear, just enjoy and up your tire budget :)

Is this possibly the difference between a RWD and AWD? All the horses go to two tires; you spin, maybe drift the rear end out, etc. I know you drag raced at least once. I've never done any of that, and have AWD. You've probably seen these pics, but here they are again; they have c. 10K miles on them:
