I test drove 2018 GT2 twice back in 2018.
Ended up getting 2019 in early February.
First thing I noticed when I drove 2019 model was the exhaust sound.
When I test drove 2018 models, I was telling myself that I would need to get an aftermarket exhaust as it made no sound.
but this 2019 GT2 I have makes droning noise which is kinda annoying..
I was driving at around 50mph constant steed and engine RPM was at around 1.3k-ish.
What's you guys' opinion on stock exhaust? is there something wrong with mine?

By drone do you mean you can hear the exhaust when cruising or you actually get in cabin vibration?

Sorry, I may be using the term incorrectly.
I meant I can gear exhaust while driving at constant speed.
Is this normal?

That’s not drone. If you have the seats down or the hatch tonneau cover off you will have more exhaust sound. I could sometimes hear the exhaust at higher RPM cruising speeds before I modified it.

I hear mine on my 2018 while driving and always have. The tone will change as carbon builds up too so that could be at play. I'm a bit confused because you say the 2018 was silent and you'd have to get an aftermarket exhaust yet the 2019 is louder and you hate it.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
At highway speeds while cruising, the road noise is louder than any exhaust tone for me.

I absolutely agree, I was only able to hear while cruising on local roads at around 50mph.
but, as soon as I move on to higher speed on highways, it gets masked by all other noises.
not sure if that's a good thing or not..

I wanted car to make more noise when it's accelerating not when cruising at low speed..
I had an opportunity to drive Panamera for long period of time and the exhaust on that thing was amazing. It makes amazing sound only when I want it to. I'm not saying the sound in Stinger is bad, I still love it! but constant sound at low speed cruising isn't pleasant.

The Panamera probably had a bi-modal exhaust which would make sense why its quiet at cruise and louder on heavy throttle.

The car is competitively quiet, but could be quieter for sure. The low profile 19"s are loud by nature.

If it's bothering you, try sound proofing the trunk, that should eliminate any drone you hear.

Turn up the radio.... like to level 15. Haha!

There is no droning in my 2019. No, I don't have the "radio" turned on.

Yes. My 2019 GT2 does have a noticeable exhaust note inside the car. It is audible the moment you start the car up. To my ears though, it sounds good. It only surprised me because all of the reviews I have read referred to how quiet the exhaust was or wished for more exhaust note. But these were all 2018 model reviews.

I can tell you that I drove several 2019 GT2 before I bought mine. Each one had the same audible exhaust sound coming from the back of the car. I know exactly the sound you refer to. All of the GT2 2019’s sound like this.
I think what’s throwing people in this thread off is that you refer to it as drone. And maybe the 2018’s that most people have are different...

To me, it’s not really drone. It’s just exhaust note that is clearly audible. Definitely at low speeds, and less so as the vehicle is moving faster (with wind and road noise drowning it out). In any event, if accustomed to the exhaust sound of the Panamera or silence of a car with no note at all, I can see how you would classify the Stinger’s exhaust note as drone. The Stinger exhaust note is comparatively flat, hoarse, and ever present. That’s on the inside of the car. From the outside it sounds more sophisticated though.

I do notice that with the Engines Active Sound Enhancement adds mostly induction/intake sound, but also adds a bit of character to this exhaust note as well which may make it sound less abrasive (but louder) to your ears.

My 2018 GT1 has an audible exhaust note as well, I think it sounds good. No, it's not the sound enhancement, when driving in a parking deck with the windows down you can clearly hear it reverberating.

From what I understand, all US spec Stingers got this "louder" exhaust.

Yes. Kia did a very good job with the exhaust note. I applaud them for taking a chance and making it as audible as it is.
