Hi, I drove to work no issues. I go to leave and i start the car and back out then drive out of the carpark but with no revs just a walking pace and the engine warning light and collision avoidance light are on so i stick it reverese and same thing only walking pace.

Then as im sat there switching the car on and off and each time it wants to steadily increase the revs without me even pressing the accelerator.

Im at a loss, runs smooth as just wont accelerate. Was going to try dissconnect the battery but no tools at work so had to leave it there.

Any ideas? The car was fine when i got to work then we had a decent rain shower, thats theconly thing different than any other day, strange.

Regards
Warren

you didn't have a window cracked down for ventilation during that rain shower did you? that's more of a nonsense question, since CEL and collision warning lights indicate something far more involved than a little moisture getting inside. Find out what the error codes are and report back.

Sounds like it’s in limp mode, maybe a trip to the dealer to check for faults & reset.

Yeah definatley in limp mode if limp mode is walking pace :)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I get back to my car after a day and starts up no problems, revs as normal the after a few minutes the engine light and check collision avoidance comes on and no acceloration again, next day i came back and same thing again, i have an axxelorator again for 5 minutes the the egine light. Should be able to turn the collision avoidance totally off

I bought a scan tool and it pointed me to the accelorator pedal.

Wanted to make sure so called a mobile mechanic, he said the same and the bad news was the accelerator pedal was $800 (they are $100 second hand on ebay) none in Australia and 8 weeks for Kia to get one here and you cant really take them apart to fix.

Anyway i took the pedal apart as i had nothing to lose and it was full of water as you can see by the image. Dried it off, dried inside the pedal area that the board slotted into and all is good, all engine lights and collision avoidence warnings are gone.

Just thought i would add this just in case anyone else had the same issue. Basically water came through via my jb4 cable and fell onto the accelorator wire which then went into the area behind the connection that housed the board and soaked it causing the voltage issues.

JB4 was installed 5 years ago, the grommet must of popped out on the day of the issue then it rained hard the same day. Just a million to one issue i think.

Anyway grommet fixed no water and Stinger on the road again.
