So today I copped a stone chip in my windscreen! Think it's too big to repair. How does it work with these glass panels, are they special ones to be ordered from Kia Australia?

Photo now added. Have done this from phone so hope ok .

get it filled asap , its low enough not to impact view line . You will probably get another one at some time BUT I will bet the Parts for replacement are REALLY tough to find at this point ...................did the same thing 2 days ago on our Sorento !

Ouch that’s a doozy! Good luck with that one.

Just got back to the car after work and the crack has cause a 20cm or so split so definitely new one time....

Ouch, that sucks, feeling your pain. Keep us posted on replacement experience.

IF it's repairable without replacement, depending on your insurance, you may not be charged a dime. Call you insurance agent ASAP because this WILL get bigger.

Someone said the windshield on the GT2 (HUD capable) is close to $1,000. I have my dealer checking this.

I just had a chip fixed on my Sorento and asked the question about rain sensing HUD windshields and was told "at least" $1000 if replacement was required , my insurance covered the chip 100% , cost was $85

I am on my 6th windshield in my G8 and it needs another one to pass state inspection later this year. You want to know why I wanted a GT1 instead of a GT2? That's one big reason among others.

It's all gravy to me when glass is covered under my insurance for any damage/replacement and my deductible is $250. :P

Yeah called insurance - I dont have windscreens specific insurance so will have to pay by normal excess - waiting for a call back from the windscreen mob with a quote. I'm concerned cause its such a new car etc, but obviously these guys know what they are doing and have dealt with other cars with HUD and rain sensing etc etc. Still not a nice way to spend $650.

Well from what I am told they don't get exact manufacturer ones. As in straight part from Kia in this example. I think they make or get windscreens that are copies of it or something. They seemed to make the point that it wouldn't have Kia written on it

I think you might have set some kind of record with this.

"Windscreen-specific insurance"? Around here it's called Comprehensive coverage and the windshield's included...

Yeah I'm covered under normal insurance but have to pay mybig excess. You can also get an add on here which is windscreen only damage and that way u get one free windscreen claim a year
