Hi Everyone,
Sorry if this is already covered but I didn't find with a search. I'm considering a Premium trim, 2018 but it doesn't have the Drive Wise package. For people in similar car do you feel it's safe without the blind spot monitor? I had one test drive and need another but I'm curious what people have experienced in ownership.
Thank you.

My Stinger is the first car I've owned with blind spot monitoring. Is it a nice feature? Sure, but I've been driving just fine for about 20 years without it, if you can turn your head 45 degrees to check your blindspot you'll be fine.

The BSM has saved my bacon more than once already in this car. I drive about 50,000 miles a year, over 37 years and have never had an accident. In 79 different cars. This is the first one where I believe the BSM is essential bc the blind spot is huge. Just my opinion

Just add a simple peel and stick blind spot mirror and problem solved.

I don't have it on mine, it would be nice to have but not essential. As mentioned above, the blind spot is pretty big, but just a look over your shoulder and you'll be fine.

The blind-spot in these cars is quite large because of the fat C-Pillar and the tiny rear-window... Also, the car has big hips, can mess with rear visibility. The drive-wise pack is worth it's weight in gold if you ever have to drive in traffic as well, so I'd be all over that for the price.

Hopefully you are turning your head more than that to check a blind spot. Unless you mean your a-pillar blind spot.

I know this sounds weird but you can adjust your outside mirrors so you don't have any blind spots. I've been doing it for a few years now. It is a bit disconcerting at first but it works 100% of the time w/o having to turn your head to check your blind spot. In essence you won't have a blind spot. That said I still do like the BSM.

Yeah you go me more, like 90 degrees and 45 with the eyeballs haha

If you are already driving a car with BSM get it with a Stinger. Its a feature you get used too and will have to untrain yourself if you dont get it.

If you dont have BSM already i wouldnt pay the money for it but beware this car does have some serious blind spots.

I had blind spot monitoring on the car I traded in for the Stinger. I don't really miss it. I was concerned that one day I may miss the rear cross traffic alert, but that day hasn't yet arrived.

A lot of folks don’t adjust their mirrors properly and that system can help them. I have it but I still adjust my mirrors out far enough to not see my car and be able to see more of the traffic. Backing up I use all mirrors and hardly turn around, I forget at times I have the backup camera. The parking sensors however, beep so much that I don’t usually get as close as I normally would, sometimes. :)

The best way to adjust your mirrors properly is to lay your head against the driver's window and angle your driver's mirror out until you can just see down the side of your car. Then center your head over the center console and angle the passenger mirror out until you can barely see down the passenger side of the car. When you sit straight in the driver's seat the mirrors look angled out too far if you are accustomed to seeing the sides of your car, but they are in fact perfectly adjusted to eliminate blind spots.

I don't have it on mine and I don't have any issues. As soon as a car leaves my mirror, I can see it out the side. I've never driven without looking over my shoulder when changing lanes so it isn't something I've worried about.
