Hello all, new to the forums. I have been following Genesis and the stinger since first reveals. I have been waiting for a hybrid car like this for a long time. A real sport car that's luxury with all the gadgets. Alot of car manufacturers swing one direction or the other and no best of both worlds unless you want to spend 70k+ U.S.

I see alot of editorial reviews and people seeing the car in person but has anyone test drove the U.S. spec? Does anyone know when a dealer test drive will be available?

I'm interested to hear it from the regular people.

Welcome, Marko!

No test drive on the Stinger yet, but on the 15th I was told middle of next week (Thanksgiving?) by an internet sales manager, and a week-and-a-half by his minion. When I spoke to Kia customer assistance this morning on another issue, the rep had no evidence on her screens that the U.S. spec cars had even entered port yet, but I've heard from a questionable source that they have.

Thanks for the information. I read somewhere that the east and west coast will get first deliveries. I really want to test drive the v6 gt2 rwd to determine if ill get the rwd or go the safe route with the awd. Also to determine the quality of the vehicle.

I have driven alot of cars that look great on paper and in pictures but reality is completely different.

Welcome aboard, @Marko! Thank you for signing up. I'm pretty confident you're going to love the Stinger even more once you drive it. So far all the reviews leave a big smile on the driver's face. I really think we have a winner here. As for AWD, if you're up north it's probably a good idea. Or are you just looking at the performance aspect of launching? For that, there IS launch control.

Are you sure? It's too early to say that, buddy. According to features missing on this car (360 view, etc...), I don't think people will have a big smile on this Christmas.

What I'm sure of is that the people who "drive" the Stinger have a big smile on their face. Since you can't drive a 360 degree camera, wireless charging or heated rear seats - that's a different story. :p

Agreed! And yes, I miss the idea of the 360º camera, but never having had one, I won't miss the reality. I actively DO NOT want heated seats, and don't mind carrying a wire to recharge the phone that I hardly ever use any way. Yeah, I know, I'm weird and the exception, but a lot of us are weird. I'm trying to convince myself that Kia figured that any American who is smart enough to buy a Stinger is just such a talented driver that they don't NEED 360. ;) (But yeah, it is unfair.)

No offense to kia but let's look at the car. It's a gt by a south Korean company. They are trying to establish themselves to obtain more market share. In the sport aspect and luxury. I don' expect all the bells and whistles on a 50k car.

Alot of German cars don't come with the features you ask for and if they do by the time you finish building what you want you are looking at 60k+. If I want what the stinger offers in an Audi. I would need a 70k s5 sportback.

This car has more features then an Infiniti q50 red sport and is about 60k also. The q60 red sport I had for a weekend... Another 60k car that doesn't have everything a stinger has.

Drove a s5 convertible coupe 70k car and didn't have everything kia offers.

My point is for the price it is fair. 360 degree nice but not essential, heated rear seats...Don't care I'm driving and not in the back. Wireless charging is the only thing I wish it had because who likes having cords everywhere.

I think the main thing is that this stuff is offered everywhere but here. It's no problem if someone doesn't care about those features. However, they should probably offer it as options since they're doing it everywhere else.

For my wife, she's not happy about the color omissions (the Deep Blue was her #1 as well) and the rear seat heaters. For me, it's the missing colors and more recently, the 360 cam.
Everything else is ok for me. I'm surprised the 360 bothers me. I guess I figured it was one of those things that wouldn't even be in a KIA, but I think I would actually use that feature. Again, ignorance is bliss, but knowing that they are offering everywhere else is a problem for me.

Still, as much of a kick in the face omission as it is, I could probably get over that, but not the colors.
I worry that if I settled on a color that I wasn't really into (when there was on that we both felt was perfect) that they'll then offer the color in a later release. I wouldn't want to feel any buyer's remorse such as that after dropping $50K so I probably won't take the risk. So I'm just upset that I'm probably not going to be able to get the car and enjoy the launch along with everyone else.

My first pick was the dark gray that is not available. 2nd pick ceramic silver. I was never a picky on color . I usually go with a gray or silver because it shows less dirt.

I'm with netmeg, first choice was chroma blue, second was the dark gray, both of which we are not getting. (At least in the first year)

Yeah those were my exact choices, as well.

I wonder what made them eliminate the colors. Like seriously who wants yellow.

Yeah I was a little disappointed at first with not having the wireless charging but then I realized that I'll be using Android Auto and you have to connect it via USB lol

True, if you're gonna run it into the ground. The TCO may be a lot closer if you're going to trade it in or sell it. Kia and Genesis have had high depreciation rates and the Stinger may also. It'll need to be a smash hit to maintain its value like the big German names.

For my wife, she's not happy about the color omissions and the rear seat heaters.
Well, don't piss her off and she'll ride up front with you where the seat is heated.

I tend to keep my cars for 6+ years. Any car will depreciate terribly by then. So for me I'm not concerned..most of the value will be lost.

Any test drives yet in the U.S.? Im going to call two kia dealers tomorrow to see when I can. I just got a really sick offer from Audi on the a5 sportback. Going to go test drive that Saturday.

I have one scheduled Tuesday morning. They're on sale at my dealer in SoCal this coming week.
