Hi,
My car sometimes randomly refuses to start.
Seat moves forward, steering goes to its place, trunk can open, windows can be lowered but nothing appears on the dash except for a yellow key.
I have been towed 5 times, 3 dealerships tried to fix it, so far the mystery has not been solved. The events take place usually in the late afternoon as I try to get back home.
Any ideas? The dealerships are clueless, thy encourage me to find answers for them.
Thanks for your help!

Replace the battery in your key fob?

Or maybe some kind of broken/loose connection between the brake pedal and ignition?

Has your dealer looked into those two?

Sounds like a bad battery in the fob or the key itself to me as well. Have you tried using your other key fob for a while to see if that solves the problem?

Start your car using the tip (unlock) button on your fob by pressing it to the push start button. If it starts all the time, it is your key fob battery. If it doesn't have them check your main battery. It may require recharging.

Maybe you got the lazy edition...seriously though try as @SilverNitr8 suggests above.

The yellow key icon and the accessories being operational is the equivalent of the "Acc" position on good old-fashioned key ignitions. It sounds like someone above was potentially correct: perhaps the brake pedal position is not sending the correct signal to the ignition causing you to do the equivalent of pressing the Start button a single time without depressing the brake (even though you are).

If you're not sure what we mean, if you get in the car and press the to Start button once, the car goes into "Acc" mode in which accessories on the vehicle will operate, which sounds like what you're describing. Try pushing the brake pedal a little harder to see if the sensor there is just bad when pushing the Start button.

Actually, starting by pressing

Yes, the keys have even been changed so was the key detection module. They tell me that it should not be an issue with the brake pedal like some are experiencing with the sorento.... but then again they do not seem to have a clue.

Like I posted earlier, both key fobs were tried and then replaced by the dealer, and yes the batteries were replaced before switching the key fob.

I tried that trick the first time as it explains it in the manual. The main battery was even disconnected to eliminate the possibility of static (then grounded) it did not require recharging either

Another weird thing, even though windows, seat and trunk work, I cannot get the dash to light up nor the central screen. After a bit on the ON position, the engine fan starts up but the a/c does no work (I guess because the a/c's settings are on the main screen)

sounds like you have one of those electronic gremlins, if they can't fix it I would demand a new car, shouldn't be on you to fix a car under warranty.

Use lemon law and replace it with new Stinger.

I know it's not a Stinger, but in his video he mentioned a relay switch. May help isolate the area to research.

This is what I am expecting if they tell me that they cannot find the cause. The only issue (if it comes to that) is transferring/replacing the stuff from one car to the other i.e. springs, tints, tag tracking, rustproofing... hopefully they will find the answer!

AC wont work unless engine is running as it needs rotational energy to spin the AC compressor

Sorry, I meant the fan inside the car does not start

Just out of curiosity, where are you located in Canada?

That situation seriously sucks. How many km do you have on the vehicle?

Doubt if you will get a reply, he hasn't posted in over three years.
