Hi everyone! I installed the large STINGER badge a while ago on the rear of my Stinger. Recently, I reversed and hit something which damaged the paint on the rear. I took it to the Kia service center and they told me that they have to take off the whole part and paint it all.

Now my question is...
If they have to remove the rear STINGER badge, with what will they replace it after painting? The same badge or the Kia badge?

I also have another question. How do you tell if your Stinger is GT, GT1, or GT2? Mine is GT-Line but I'm not sure if those numbers count.

Insist that they replace it with what you have currently. They're fixing it to return it to service, if they have to remove the badge, then they should be putting the same badge back on.

If you have a GT Line you have a 4cyl engine , only the V6 constitutes GT status . as for your badge it should be repaired to the state you delivered it to them ..............its an OEM badge thus they have access to it .

Good luck

I asked them about the rear Stinger badge and they said everything's fine. I'm going to receive the car tomorrow morning and hope for the best.

Does this mean that all 4 cylinder Stingers are called GT-Line?

My car was rear-ended and the shop was going to charge $50 bucks for the OEM STINGER badge, even though it was covered under the other person's insurance I told them that I would supply the badge. I ordered the badge for about $20 and left it in the car. When I picked up the car I see this tiny little STINGER badge and told them they put on the wrong badge. They said they had ordered the correct OEM STINGER badge directly from Kia, and it was the same as the one that was on my car. I told them they installed the smaller side badge and reminded them I had supplied the larger KDM badge. After they ran around in circles forever they found the badge and admitted yeah it's actually bigger, and agreed to change it. Days later I came back and the small stinger badge was removed but the technician refused to install the new badge because it didn't have the knobs to go into the holes. I took the car as-is and went home and filled the holes with silicone and installed the badge myself.

The only knob was the technician !:laugh::laugh::laugh:

No, but in at least some markets, all GT-Line Stingers have 4-cylinder engines.
In many markets , including Canada , Kia positions the 4cyl cars as GT Line , they have a few more "goodies" than the standard 4cyl versions and of course the rear badge .................

UPDATE: I can't seem to edit my post so I'm just gonna post what happened in a reply.

So basically after repainting the scratches and all that, they installed the same badge that was on the car again and incorrectly. The "Stin" part of the badge was a lot lower and "ger" was a lot higher when they placed it back. There wasn't even an attempt to center it. They also had to take off my license plate and when they placed it back using 3M tape it wasn't straight. I wish I took a picture but that never came into my mind because I was shocked when I saw what they did.

After all this, I spoke with the manager of the service center and he took a look at what the workshop staff did to my car. He called one of them to come and see the car. The staff was saying this is the correct way of placing it, so I showed them a picture that I took of my car days before I brought it to them. The staff got nervous afterward and took my car back inside the workshop. The staff's excuse of placing it like that was the "holes" of the original KIA badge and then inside the workshop, he removed the Stinger badge and the new paint came off! The manager saw it and told me that they're going to paint it again, cost-free and they also told me to come the next day and that they won't place back the badges until I arrive so that I see their work when they place them.

I went there the next day, and I saw that the "holes" were closed somehow and also painted. I don't know how they managed to do it, but now it looks like there are no KIA badge "holes" at all on the rear of the car. This had me excited as I knew that it would make placing back the STINGER badge much easier since there are no "holes" to hide. After all, my first experience in a Kia service center was 7 out of 10.

Excuse me for my English

Your English is very good. You shouldn’t have any concerns there at all. I do however think that giving your dealer a 7 out of 10 is overly generous. Personally all that mucking around I wound give them a 3.

Thanks! And I only gave them a 7 out of 10 because they seemed to care much more after I complained lol.

^ Don't worry about your English.

You write better than many native speakers.

^ Got a chuckle out of that...

Of course, there are numerous countries where English is the primary language (something like 27).

7 out of 10, 3 out 10
JMO, Everyone screws up , no one is perfect. If they look at the work and easily agree it is not right, but will step up and fix it, what’s to complain about? Give em a break.....

They were trying to prove me wrong by saying they correctly placed everything until I showed them a picture of the same car before I took it to them.
