I find it funny how folks take a small sample of forum issue and think every vehicle will have a particular issue. Prior to getting our Volvo S60, the forums had a lot of folks complaining about the Stop/Start system, while they were many others that said they did not have the issue. Volvo listened and made adjustments. Ours never developed the issue but the dealer replaced the part as it was a change Volvo required. KIA, like most manufacturers have issue that crop up during the first year of a new vehicle. If one is concerned about that, then waiting for the 2nd year production vehicle is the better option.
I have purchased/leased a few first year vehicles and some have had quirks but none that I couldnt deal with. Warped rotors, yeah my driving style when I was younger had me warping rotors then replacing them with higher quality rotors and pads plus better tires. Heck the first things I typically replace are the tires, usually within 2 weeks. With the hybrid it’s been about 1 year as eventually I get back to driving hard. I’m on my 3rd Hybrid from KIA, only brand I have had similar vehicle more than once, had BMW 5 series twice and if I didn’t have any issues, I probably would have stayed with them. Nothing wrong with checking out other brands/cars, it’s a good thing to do to decide which vehicle is best for you or at least have other choices should you need to pull the trigger and your first choice isn’t available or the dealers aren’t willing to deal. We were planning on having 2 KIAs but the dealer wasn’t willing to make the deal and we got a kicking deal on the Volvo so we went with that.
One final note, this forum is welcoming to folks being respectful and cordial to each other. We may disagree on things and that is fine but remember to keep it civil. We all can agree that some of the dealers out there make the experience bad but that is not a reflection of the company. It sucks that it occurs but there are still good dealers out there. For me, I go where the best deal is and have my car serviced wherever I am at the moment it requires servicing. For now, hang in there and keep test driving, if you really want a Stinger, wait for the 2019s to come in, if you want a great deal, the 2018s are dropping in price if you are willing to compromise and go with a different version that your first choice. Good luck.
