2018 Ford Mustang running 8.7 @ 161mph with completely stock internals. I’d like to see some crazy internals like this in the Stinger and of course I’d love to see a v8 version with a power adder that throws down something in the 400s stock.
There have been many rumors of a V8 coming. Genesis already had one. The only problem I see is that, "in these days", the market is so small, no manufacturer will want to develop one.
At this point what does it matter, any efforts KMA made with the Stinger they are crapping away with how they are handling the paint issues in the US market....
I just made the switch from a Lexus ISF to the Stinger. One of my biggest reasons for leaving Lexus was that Lexus was slow to adopt forced induction. The industry trend is to move away from V8s. Ford themselves placed a 3.5L twin-turbo in the Ford GT, their "halo" car, that generates 647hp/550tq. The smaller forced induction engines offer better packaging, lower weight, more "driveable" power delivery curves, and are more efficient. It is very unlikely you will see another V8 in a Kia/Hyundai platform as rumor has it that Hyundai is dropping the V8 currently used in favor of 3.3TT tuned with higher output. I hate this because I love the sound of a V8. It is hard to beat.
Unfortunately V8’s are now going the way of the dinosaurs, we all grew up with them, loved the power & sound they gave us but alas those days are now behind us, higher fuel prices & emissions regulations spell its death in all but exotics.
Auto manufacturers will not spend anymore R&D $$$ on an engine that cannot meet strict regulations.
The Stinger/Genesis engine/drivetrain is “now” & the foreseeable future, they give heaps of power & torque will eat most current std V8’s & all on the fuel ecomomy of a 4cylinder, for an auto manufacture this is a no- brainer, give them another 5-10 years of R&D evolvement & who knows what performance outputs can be gained (electric vehicles ie: Tesla etc. being the current exception to the rule).
So I believe we have what we have now & with possible improvements to be offered in future year models if popularity warrants it, so as much as it pains me to say this...a V8 is not needed in the Stinger.

If you want a track car, buy a Hellcat or TrackHawk. The Stinger is a comfortable, relatively economical car with practical storage space, not a hot rod racer.

A higher output TTV6 (or maybe even a super-charged V6) further boosted by battery power, however, can totally see.
It remains to be seen if H/K/G replaces the Tau V8 w/ a smaller displacement FI V8; need one in order for the G90 (not to mention the LWB G90) and K900 to remain competitive, along w/ if they ever do full-size CUVs and if Genesis eventually launches a performance division.
