Stinger in Orange?

I would think spray is cheaper, though may look hit or miss in different areas, just like with any paint job, you may (or whoever does it) spray heavier in one area while lighter in another, etc. You may have to reapply or touch up with a spray, whereas wrap will be more durable. If you are just playing with different colors, definitely go with a spray as it is probably more easily removable than a wrap, I don't know for sure, but I would gather. If you wanted to change the colors of the rims, I would recommend sprays as temporary, you can tape up and probably get a cleaner look. For a permanent color change on the rims, I would recommend powder coating for better protection against chipping and pealing. They spray a plastic powder that is electrically charged so it is statically clings to to the metal, put it in a big oven and bake it so that the plastic powder melts and adheres to the metal, as well as color blending, glossy look, flat look, etc. They can do wonders mixing that powder to get damn near any color and/or mix of colors you want. Of course you have to take the tires off, give them the rims, put the tires back on, balance, etc, etc.

What's the difference between an autoflex and a wrap? I get that one is...well...a wrap, and the other is a coating of some sort (spray?), but how do they compare in things like cost, durability, removability?

Autoflex, I guess that is the next generation of plasti-dip or same thing? Basically, you can buy it in spray paint type cans, gallon cans, (for those of you with a air compressor and appropriate gear and talent :) )etc. It's kinda like a stretchy plastic. I've seen some jobs that have looked awesome and I have seen some jobs that look like they did it with a spray can; over sprayed, under sprayed areas, blotting, etc. Think of it as a temporary paint job. A wrap is vinyl and is usually cut to fit the dimensions of your car, perfectly. And then you have to have someone apply it with more patience than what you have! LOL.

Cost. I personally have never priced or used either but I have heard that a wrap can be a few to several thousand dollars and a spray can be a few to several hundred dollars, depending on if you do it yourself or have it done by someone who knows what they are doing, complexity, etc. :)

Durability. Wraps will probably last longer than the spray but it's probably easier to touch up or repair a spray. :) In either case, if you get a sharp enough rock, or a big enough one, you're still going to get a nick or ding, regardless. I believe the wraps wins as far as protection and durability goes.

Removability. To be honest, I don't know which is easier to remove. I've seen videos where someone just grabs a corner of vinyl or spray and just peels it right off. I've also seen videos where someone grabs a corner of either and then spends the next 5 hours trying to peel either off. :) But I would think in general a spray would be easier to remove than a wrap. I would also think it would depend on the type of vinyl used, whether or not the vinyl used adheres statically (think of those big window stickers in fast food joints that they can peel right off and change every other special) or the professional wraps that you see on 'advertisement' cars and work trucks.

If you check out my pics I dipped my forte blue and then green later. It easy to do and somewhat easy to peel off, but I only lasts about a year or two. I'm thinking about wrapping my Stinger.

This is my client's site, www.stingerhaus.com. They collaborated with KIA on that orange car. The site shows the same car in black.
