Recently sold my K5 GT and presently driving a cherokee trailhawk. Love it. Complete beast.
Entertaining the thought of getting a stinger.
I've always wanted one....since they first announced it.
Anyway, 3.3tt is what I want and wondering if there's a year to avoid. Or do I just go for most recent I can afford? I'm in canada so there's no Gt1 gt2 packages.

Just go by the individual vehicle or vehicles that you can choose from. The model years were all good.

Also in Canada, I was looking for '22+ stinger and ended up getting a 22 stinger elite scorpion not long ago

I'm in Canada and always wanted one since they came out in 2018. I bought a new 2023 when I heard they were stopping production.
I'm glad I did. They were hard to find and I waited almost 3 months for a car to show up.
I would get the refreshed model for sure (22 or 23). You won't regret it.

Aside from refreshed esthetics, what mechanical differences are there and any major issues with drivetrain of any particular year?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Stingers didn't change mechanically, unless you count a minor exhaust change as a mechanical change. The GTS versions got D-AWD which allows 100% power to the rear wheels, but that was introduced in 2019 and carried forward at least one more year, Ima not sure about it being available in "special editions" after 2020. The main difference in the lower trims was to downgrade what you get. The last year for a GT1 in the US, 2022, it was more like a base GT.

You haven't expressed any interest in the four cylinder engine. Does Canada even offer that? But just to complete the topic, KIA dropped the 2.0L in 2020 and used the 2.5L from that point on.

From what I gather from the 2022 year for the Canadian models:

The GT Limited does not have the 360 cam, front parking sensors, turn signal camera, and a few other things that the GT Elite does, and the GT Elite is pretty much the US GT2. It does have the electronic shifter, HK audio system, heated and ventilated seats, and some other things that the US GT1 didn't get.

So, I call it the GT1.5 :p .

I haven’t verified this yet, but based on the 2022 brochure (you can easily find it by googling), the GT Elite trim is listed as having Limited-slip differential, whereas the GT Limited isn’t

That could be the case as well. Mine isn't on LSD, but I don't know if all those here who have an Elite have an LSD.

Don't all stinger have lsd ? Or torque vectroing ?
Any major or common issues with rear diff?

So a quick search confirms that the Gt limited and elite models come standard with lsd whereas the GT base model was had it as optional....for canadian models.
