Hi all,

I've had this issue since I purchased the car in March.

The climate system is set to off, and I push the Recirc button to avoid outside air coming in. A few minutes later or at some point during my drive I notice the system automatically switched to fresh air mode (the climate system is still off).

The issue here is simply that the climate is auto switching from recirc to fresh air.

NOTE: I have seen during the summer when the climate system would automatically turn on to reduce humidity and when this happened it would show the alert on the dash screen but this is NOT the case for the issue described here.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yep, it's called smart defrost(?) or something like that. I'm pretty sure you can turn it off

Yep. And it is a setting.

I just updated my original post with this:

What I've described doesn't seem to be part of this feature. I also haven't seen where you can disable this regardless.

It's to remove moisture from the windows. Everyone complained about the feature with the Optimas as well. No one was able to find a way to permanently disable it.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
There's a section in the manual about this. It's called defogging logic and it can be disabled through a process. I don't use the actual manual but rather one I downloaded; if the page numbers are the same, it should be chapter 4, page 147-149.

There you'll find instructions how to cancel the defogging logic and auto ventilation.

That's what we all tried on the Optimas. It works for a few cycles (starting and stopping the engine). It eventually resets itself.

The only fix I've found for either car (the Optima has the exact same system, obviously) is to park in the garage.

I parked outside last winter and both the Stinger and Optima tried to kill me every morning by blasting cold air onto the windshield and refusing to let me use warm air to blow through the front vents. It would take 10 minutes of my 15 minute commute before the moisture was removed from the windows and the computer relinquished control of the HVAC to me.

here is a video that shows how to disable this annoying feature, just use the same method on the stinger and it will work

Try this method as it will disable the feature...
