I think opposite. I believe the Sunset Yellow will become a collectible car because of its color. 400 made in US, but how many were actually sold in US before they stop selling them? So potentially less then 400 spread out in the U.S. That sounds like future rarity to me.NOT THE LIMITED SUNSET YELLOW!
even the damn yugo is a collectible, and i am not putting the stinger in that catagory. given that the yellow is a rarity, and the fact that they have a paint problem, once that is taken care of, they are still going to be a rarity. all the owners of yellow stingers who will opt out will be kicking themselves in the ass several years from now. case in point, middle brother actually owned one of those hideous school bus yellow vw bugs when the were reintroduced. they stopped selling that color because it was hideous. have you seen what they are selling for now? people want that color because of its rarity. kia is going to fix the problem. it will also be reflected on the carfax. manufacturer repaired its own problem. not an accident, not owner fault. so, depreciation isn't a factor.
Even with the current mandatory paint recall on the sunset yellowI think opposite. mandatory recall or not, it isn't like the powertrain is going to explode or anything. it is a repaint that they are doing voluntarily. it will reflect this on the carfax that manufacturer has acknowledged the problem has fixed it, so perceived value doesn't take a hit. look back on any of the collectible cars, mopar had union problems during its heyday, workers would seal bolts into the frame rails to cause rattles. hasn't detracted from its value. stingray with the split window caused a huge blindspot, actually made the car be worth more. vacuum controlled hideaway lights on the 60's camaros, worth more if the system hasn't been fixed. so, for the paint to be recalled and fixed by kia shouldn't have anything to do with the stinger being a collectible. even if it isn't, who cares, it's an awesome car. and, if this is the only year that it will be made, so be it. the mrs and i, and probably the majority of the members here, purchased the car for what it is. a 40-50k car that has caused all the majors to sit up and take notice. that is why i purchased the car.Even with the current mandatory paint recall on the sunset yellow
