Hello All,

I was in Atlanta this weekend picking up a G90 for the wife and stopped in the Kia dealership. Good conversation with a sales rep. He told me the Stinger will be available first week of December. The caveat to that is they don't know what they are getting. Whatever comes off the truck for that dealership is it. So how is it all these US dealers keep saying they are taking on orders on a vehicle they'll have little to no input of what shows up?

Has anyone else heard anything?

Congrats on your new G90! I sat in one at Hyundai dealership near Mall of Georgia. The interior was amazing...very upscale appointed. Did you go with the 3.3 twin turbo or 5.0 V8? Would you mind sharing which Kia dealership you were at? I heard the similar story about the Stinger's first batch delivery. They also told me Atlanta is supposed to get the most amount of the cars in the East Coast...benefit of the doubt ...much!? o_O

I was at
Ed Voyles Kia
5647 Peachtree Industial Blvd
Chamblee, GA 30341

I got my G90 3.3T from Jim Ellis Genesis/Hyundai

I ordered mine last Thursday at Cobb CO. KIA and the word is that the first group ordered will come in Mid- December. Congrats on the G90, it's a great car as well.

Steve, they suggested I wait until January to take delivery since the new Georgia tax law is supposed to be enacted.

Salesman "takes an order" for whatever specs you want, which essentially consists of him recording your contact information as a sales lead. Cars come in, he calls you and asks if you want one of the ones he has instead of waiting.

Congratulations on your Genesis G90, @Ranger90! That's a hell of a car and a pretty nice upgrade over the midsize G80. If you don't mind my asking - what did the G90 replace? Oh and if you're looking for a good G90 forum, click here. I've been seeing more and more G90s here in South Florida lately. Far, FAR more than the Lincoln Continental...

Yes, this is very true. But do keep in mind that dealers will trade inventory with another local dealership and do their best to get what the buyer wants. Just trying to be the silver lining here. :p

@Kia Stinger I replaced a 2014 BMW 740Li the G90 is awesome. I was a Lexus guy for years then moved to BMW and I just think if people would just get pass the whole stigma of its not a German luxury brand they'll love the G90

The dealer I talked to said the first batch was four 2.0s but was vague about when and said they'd call me. Said the next batch was 3.3s. They didn't break down the trim levels.

The 740Li is really nice. How do you two feel about the switch the Genesis? What do the Germans do better than the Koreans and vise verse? The G90 is probably closer to the Lexus LS460L in driving dynamics...

Actually the G90 is closer to the German driving experience. And yes the BMW 7series is very nice however you can't beat the what you get in the Genesis. Remember the Germans hit you hard when you add options.

What @hej said.

The dealership will reach out to other dealerships and wheel and deal, wine and dine, trade what they have that the other dealership may want, for the car you want. Let's say a dealership in the ranchland part of Texas gets two Stingers but sells out of trucks but your dealership has a couple of trucks to spare (I know, Kia doesn't make trucks but say they are low mileage, used trucks that would be great for ranch work). They would reach out to this other dealership and trade them a truck or two for the Stinger you want. It would also depend on if it would be worth the cost of having the vehicles trucked in and out. Most dealers trade with others in about a 3-400mi radius but if the deal is worth it, I'm sure they would reach out even farther.

The deposit you put down is an incentive for them to reach out to other dealerships and trade something from their dealership to get you the Stinger you want if they don't get it in themselves.

As a side note, I had to run errands tonight and stopped by my local dealership to ask more questions. They are saying that while they still don't know color options, etc. they said that the options that were on the showroom-only cars should be available here in the states. This means that we should get the 360 degree panoramic view, heated rear seats, etc.! They said that while they are unsure on the exotic colors (the bright blue, and yellow, for example) we should be at least getting the red, white, dark blue, black and slate gray (unsure of the interior colors), I know, those aren't the official color names but you get the gist. Last, but not least, they said that in about 2 weeks, mid November, they should have all the available information! I even offered my dealership a deposit and they declined that since the regional depot for Kia is my city, they will get word to me as soon as they come in and even offered to take me to the depot (put a Kia dealership shirt on me) and let me choose the car before they start delivering them to the dealerships! I am falling in love with my local dealership and if they are able to do this, I will attend any regional car show they want, pass out as many business cards, etc! I would say more but there may be young people on this site. :p The only thing I won't do, is have their dealership name plastered all over the car, call it a pet peeve of mine. I've always removed any dealership logos or name from the exterior of the cars I've purchased. I'm paying them for the car, they aren't paying me for advertising. However, if I'm happy with the whole sales experience, I will gladly refer people to that dealership and/or salesperson.

My dealer always puts an internet decal on the top of the back window. We always go through the same routine when I get a car.

Me: Twenty dollars a month and you can leave it there.
Dealer: Can't do it.
Me: Take it off and I'll take delivery.
Dealer laughing: Thought I might get it past you this time.

Oh, that's very interesting. So they've changed directions a bit since the Hyundai Equus - which was basically a Lexus LS in disguise...

Hah. It sounds like you have a nice relationship with your sales person. :p I would do the same - and remove the dealer sticker. Here they use rear license plate frames. I always take theirs off and put on my own. I'm going to make a StingerForum.org plate frame for mine. :D
