This has been my sign in pic the last couple of days. You can find any number of videos, of cars, motorcycles, bicycles going up and down the Stelvio Pass. I remember an old B&W pic in one of my dad's books (this is earliest childhood memory territory) of an open wheeled race car, pre WW2, on one of the hairpins: I'd look at that picture for hours (total), wondering where the road came from at the bottom edge, and where it went to at the opposite top edge, and imagine myself plunging over one of those abutments. Now, here is this pic (and the Net selection of many more), and the idea of driving a Stinger up and down this thing delights the imagination.

Has anyone on the forum ever been on the Stelvio Pass? If I had a bucket list, this would be on it.

I chanced upon Shmee's video, which is rather amusing, since these three cars are clearly operating in the lower 1/20th of their performance range on this road.

One of my favourite Stinger videos was filmed on the Stelvio Pass, absolutely love that area of winding roads and landscape, just the thought of driving your own Stinger on those roads would be a bucket list moment. I am sure there is like a waterfall, and the road just bypasses it so very close.

When I first saw the title I thought this thread was going to be about how you decided not to get the Alpha Romeo SUV. “Stelvio pass”.

This one? Annoying premise, but hey they're playing with Stingers. The Stelvio Pass segment begins at 8:37 and is pretty short, mostly focused on the girl, heh. And is all about heating and comfort when it's cold outside. :P

That's it, the video with the three red Stingers.:)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I would be dead! I could see myself pushing and pushing and missing a "slow" down and whammmo...off the side!! It would be a bucket...I mean, I'd end up being picked up in a bucket. lol

I just read that Stirling Moss went off the edge of one of those turns.Stelvio Pass - Wikipedia (it would be nice to have the citation to verify; fun anecdote, anyway)

Wholly crap!!!

This is a really good video of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, before it became fully paved.

I miss WRC being televised in the US

delete: editing makes this post redundant

As I'm watching the video I'm thinking...how could this be any more hair raising, then the sun pops up and he's got one hand as a visor, one hand on the wheel, and one hand changing the gears. Here's the thing, I'm happy if I make it to work and home safely and then there's this guy. :alien:

Yes. I laughed the first time it showed how he uses oversteer; juju is what that is.:laugh: My wife came over (had my HK noise cancelling headphones on) to see what is so fun(ny). And I switched to the outside speakers and we finished it together. She said, "Oh! MY!" when he skirted along the outside edge of that cliff and asked why he would risk such a thing, and I said he had to in order to set up for that right hand hairpin. But the dust clouds and sunlight shining through were over the top nuts. Iron balls. No wonder he won so much. :p

(edit: just realized my mistake: "Robby" is Bobby Unser's son, so, Like Father Like Son, I guess; I bet nobody beats Bobby Unser's 10 overall Pike's Peak wins, though.)

(edit: mistake number two: not Robby Unser; the driver is actually someone I knew nothing about: Ari Vatanen (he's my age:p). I saw Robby Unser's name in the end text and "1989" and jumped to a conclusion there. :p
