Parts Needed:
Steering Wheel Replacement / Add Heated Wheel to GT2
Some additional notes:
- Alcantara D-Cut (J5561-AB000) or Leather D-Cut (56120-J5600CEW) OEM Heated Steering Wheel. Part Numbers are for cars with smart/adaptive cruise control.
- Steering Wheel Extension Wire - 56190-J5100 (You will replace your current steering wheel harness with this replacement harness and plug in the heated element)
- Steering Wheel Clockspring - 93490-J5320 (The newer clock springs ship with neutral already set and a clip to prevent movement. DO NOT REMOVE THE CLIP until you are securing the replacement wheel to the retaining bolt. Also, there is a module behind the clockspring that you will transfer to the new clockspring assembly - DO NOT UNPLUG THAT MODULE. DO NOT REUSE YOUR ORIGINAL CLOCK SPRING).
- Replacement Combination Floor Switch - These part numbers include the heated steering wheel button. Choose the switch that matches what you currently have and adds the heated steering wheel.
- 93300-J5220CA (heated and ventilated seats with surround-view monitor)
- 93300-J5160CA (heated and ventilated seats without surround-view monitor)
- 93300-J5050CA (heated seats without surround-view monitor)
Steering Wheel Replacement / Add Heated Wheel to GT2
Some additional notes:
- Ensure the steering wheel is straight before working.
- This shouldn't need to be said -disconnect the negative battery post terminal.
- The retaining bolt for the steering wheel is torqued to only 36.4 lb/ft; however, it had a bead of red thread lock on the bolt. I would recommend using a torque wrench, not an impact socket, to break the bolt free. Once free, you can use the impact to remove the bolt entirely. DO NOT REINSTALL THE BOLT WITH THE IMPACT. Reapply thread lock and torque the bolt to spec.
- Take your time when removing the steering wheel trim pieces, including the paddle shifters. Take plenty of pictures to aid with re-install.
