We took a GT1 on a test drive to see how the ride was it was a short test ride and never put it in to sport mode . Getting on to the freeway entrance ramp Long sweeping banked right hand entrance turn at about 30 to 35 mph . Not a good experience a lot of body roll and rear end wanted to kick out . We were not impressed at all the ride was good , handling not . Three weeks later yesterday we took an AWD out on a test Drive loved it but . So now I'll get around to the question does anyone know why the steering is so heavy on the all-wheel-drive model , and yes we tried all the modes , I hope this is not the nature of the beast if so it's a dealbreaker , and will just wait and see what the new genesis G 70 AWD is like .

Welcome, @Aquadog! Thank you for signing up. What car are you used to driving that the Stinger GT handles bad? I see most people say it's a great handler. As for the G70, I'm pretty confident it's going to feel nearly the same - if not identical. I don't think there's going to be any real noticeable difference in the way either car drives. If anything, the G70 will probably feel softer as it's supposed to be more focused on luxury than performance.

What did or do you drive now I had an SXL Optima and my GT AWD doesn't feel heavy at all and i feel there is a lot of difference between comfort and sport mode steering

How was the temps that day, not sure if you are in an area where the temperature might have been too cold for the tires to do their job. Those Summer Michelins are some sticky tires but they will not perform the same below 40 degrees, plus if the tires were not warmed up in the cold weather that can happen as well. You description sounds like something I experienced some years ago when the temps were to cold one day before switching to my winter tires. Please tell us the conditions on the day you drove the RWD car.

Thank you I have to take another test drive and leave it in sport mode

We have a 2015 genesis. I think I'll go back and take another test drive , or just started up and put it in normal and see if the steering is later thanks for the comeback in the Info .

The only thing I can think of is the stinger is about 250 lbs heavier and longer wheelbase but like I said comfort mode is real light on steering and sport is heavier and more sensitive

After discovering the custom mode, I switched the steering to sport, I wished the sport mode with firmer than it is. In Europe they have a Sport plus mode. That also turns off the stability and traction control, not sure if it does anything extra to the steering but it would be nice if they could do a steering setting that firmed it up more.

Thanks we're going back down to the dealer today to check it out . It had crossed my mind that someone might have done that , because there was no difference in the steering no matter what mode I put it in .

OK I have an update , went back to the dealer yesterday. Found out that someone had sent the custom mode to Sport steering so they say anyway the steering did what it was supposed to do in each mode . I did not intend to take another test drive but the gas tank was on empty and the sales person said let's go to the gas station . He filled up the tank I asked if we could go up the road a little bit , he said we have a full tank he's working till 10 o'clock tonight we can go to Lake Tahoe if you'd like . Well needless to say we went on a spin , stayed off the freeway took every bumpy road I could think of and different surface pavement it was very enjoyable I must admit that the all wheel drive in sport mode keeps that car very well planted much more so than the rear wheel drive . Looking very much towards purchasing . Once again thank everyone for your comments they were a great help thank you all . PS. Now that was a test drive about 55 minutes .

I'm really glad you went back and got another drive in the Stinger. Man, I wonder how many people are going to think the same thing when somebody sets a custom setting on test drive vehicles...

One thing I check if the cars feels off is the settings. Oh and the tire pressure as some times they set to 40psi when they get new cars which makes the test drive horrible if you know cars. Had to tell a couple of sales folks that a harsh ride quality can make folks not want to buy a car as they think all the cars will be the same based on the model they test drive.

This ... I test drove a Jag set to 42 PSI .... the normal load setting was 34 PSI ... made a huge difference!

My tires were all over 50 psi when I took delivery (normal for GT is 36-39, depending on model & size). That affects handling and wear, and at some point must put you at risk for loss of seal. I always check my air pressure after getting any kind of service, because so many mechanics don't seem to bother with a tire pressure gauge; apparently this applies to new deliveries too.

On the GT’s the low-profile tires they keep them hi for transporting so I was told by the dealer fronts are supposed to be 38 rear 36 . That’s with the sticker on the driver side door pillar says .
