I got my oil change coming up here next month but wanted to know if anyone has encountered this noise (see video)

My car is stock. I’m assuming it’s suspension related? Or could it be the vehicles frame? What should I look for when looking at the vehicle?

Thoughts?

that must be pretty bad because I can hear it, high frequency loss here. it could be anything. where is it coming from? you suspect suspension so Ima guessing it sounds 'low' as opposed to a headliner, sunroof direction?

Yeah I wouldn’t suspect it to be the headliner because I can hear it more clearly when I open the window. I’ve also looked at my Ring camera when I got home one day and when I hit the driveway it made the noise. Also forgot to mention, this noise comes and goes: I don’t know if it’s when temperature fluctuates or something triggers it.

'comes and goes' oh great. does the noise level vary or is it always the same loudness?

I believe it’s the same. It’s hard for me to tell since it doesn’t happen constantly. Like for example it was doing it 3 days ago and it hasn’t come back since then. Lol.

speed doesn't have an impact? you said when you reached your driveway it started. and obviously when your driving it comes and goes. Ima beginning to suspect something caught in a wheel.

Nah I’ve heard it around 35mph which was during the video. And a very low speed which is when the tire would impact the driveway curb.

So I finally figured out the noise of the squeak/chirp (Dealer tried but didn’t spend much time since they had other items to do)… it’s my stinkin undercarriage plastic covers:| it’s rubbing on the metal and causing that noise! I confirmed it by pushing up on the clip and it makes the similar noise.

Has anybody ever ran into that before? Lol

My dad finally traced down the issue and I’m not sure if the plastic itself is out bent out of shape or not cause I was in an accident but it shouldn’t have gotten damage (at least visibly or it would’ve got replaced). I find it so odd! But to “solve” the problem, I put a rubber washer in between the frame and the cover, and then inserted the push clips.

BUT! Today the noise is back (it went away like 90% cause it’s hit or miss of making the noise) and it’s probably because I didn’t put a washer in every spot (I maybe put like 6 where it was noisy that day when I pushing on the cover under the car). It’s only on the right side of my car (where the accident was), and it’s much more noisy I guess cause it got cold.

I guess I plan to get back under there and take off the wheel and just put a rubber washer in every push clip hole and see if it solves it completely… any other ideas or has anyone run into this?

It’s tough without a lift to get it done fast lol

so weird my car started making this exact same noise a week ago out of no where... is only when going 20-40 mph and when barely hitting the throttle or when completely letting off the throttle between 20-50mph. its annoying the F outta me and i have no idea where its coming from.

im confused as to what your talking about when you say undercarriage though. can you explain it in more detail or better yet post a pic of what your talking about. i dont have either of the skid plates under the motor or trans

I had to look it up cause I didn’t know the name lol. It’s called a splash shield/guard. And mine is specifically making noise from the wheel well next to that air vent, and following that splash guard down under the car (on the passenger side of the vehicle for me).

That’s interesting that yours in dependent on speed. I’ve heard it from various ranges to local or highway speed. I notice it more when it’s a bumpy road or uneven lane. Or when temperatures fluctuate.

i think mine might be due to a squeaking motor mount

Hm I may take a peak at mine just to be safe on the passenger side... I wonder if an accident can jolt a motor mount and cause it to start to fail and make a noise? But I’m like 80% positive it’s the plastic cover that’s causing the chirping noise when it rubs the metal. Who knows

Thanks for your input tho I’ll check it out tomorrow

Any news

Sorry no I didn’t have time today… got busy and then gave her a bath before it got dark. Will try asap!

Do you also have that noise or are you just curious lol?

Sorry I never got back to the thread. I haven’t heard the squeak in awhile (I think those rubber washers in between the chassis and splash guards fixed it). I wonder if it’s temperature dependent - meaning it may come back when it we get to spring/summer time.
