Spiral/tornado dissipative resonators

Does anyone know what effect do these resonators create other than reducing sound volume?

They should remove the raspy sound that Stingers get at the top end of the revs with most systems.

I 'was' going to throw 2 of these ( 1st picture ) on ( with pipes ) as mid section replacement but went with a JUN BL mid section.
I think they would have been better than what I went with. Should have trusted my gut.....

which sides should be the inlet and oulet? do you think it will help reducing drone significantly?
