I have the Base 2018 so I have the standard audio system which from what I can gather is 6 speakers I think. I tried searching to see what people were doing with theirs but I can't find much and nothing on my system.

So, the question is, has anyone upgraded the speakers in there standard system? If so, with what?

I think it sounds pretty good as is so I'm not frothing at the mouth to change it especially because idk if there's any significant gains from doing so in a reasonable budget.

Six speakers? I thought that any six speaker configurations were for other markets, not the US. I know that we hashed this out in the summer of 2018; and the resulting info was that the GT (and I presume the Base Stinger) have nine speakers: one each in the rear doors, two in the front doors, two subs under the front seats and a center speaker. Where are your "six" speakers located? (then we can go from there)

There are two places you can make gains with any of the Stinger audio systems - speakers and equalization. I've seen pictures of the Stinger speakers, they are cheap paper cones even in the 15 speaker configuration. I'd changed out the speakers in numerous prior cars and have been pretty happy with them. The ONLY issue I have with changing speakers is the fear of rattles in panels you've removed, depends if this bothers you and you're willing to risk it.

The second method is a DSP (Digital Signal Processor). These are a little more complicated to run in depending on the car, unless the amp is accessible and you can easily get harnesses rather than a bunch of splicing. Once you get it tuned it, you can try to get whatever speakers are installed tuned to your liking.

So to make a long story short, yes I think even just speakers will create a more pleasing sound to most ears, as long as you buy speakers that sound good to you. A real enthusiast would claim "needs speakers, amp(s), DSP and sound deadening to sound good" but it's all up to your ears!

I could be wrong about it being 6 speakers, when I left work after making the post I counted again and there's the 4 up front, 2 in rear doors and I'm assuming the grill behind the infotainment screen houses a speaker but I can't tell if there's any bass coming through the seats or not. I tried researching again but all I could find was the newer trims that made the premium the new "base" and an article that said the premium had 9 but that contradicts other stuff also.

Push your seats back and you'll see the subs mounted in the floor. I'm pretty sure you've got nine speakers total.

As said, the Stinger's speakers are pretty bog standard. I'm guessing that, other than six more of them, and a couple of media selections in the Harman Kardon, (e.g. on stage, ClariFi - which I turn off anyway), the quality of sound put out in all trims is comparable. Which, in my humble (and grateful) opinion, is pretty danged good.

So, I don't have anything to contribute to your question. Enjoy your car! :D
