Common, I believe dealer should replace under warranty. There is a thread called Trim looks like crap (I think) that has other people with similar issues.

Yes very common amongst some Stingers. Trim looks like crap is the correct thread.

Yeah I had that issue also. Got it replaced and repainted under warranty. The paint job was pretty shit though so when I get my roof wrapped i'm going to either get new ones unpainted or just get it all wrapped.

Actually, there have been at least three threads on this; but the Trim looks like crap thread is the definitive one. Yours, I believe, has gone south later than any other I've heard of: the other cases seem to be early ones. Well, S**T Son! Time to wrap them. I wouldn't put up with cracking drip rails twice. Maybe the entire roof wrapped in Black? Looks best on a sunroof, of course. There must be a wrap that approximates the Silky Silver closely enough. Alternatively, ceramic coat the black, unpainted replacement strips? A few options there. The other thing is, park out of the sun as much as possible: I think that this crazing happens because of weathering.

BTW @MerlintheMad , uh the thread you posted was for oxidation of the chrome blackened trim pieces.....not one mention of roof trim seams cracking....good read nonetheless. :)

The UV rays are horrible on paint - especially areas such as these. For those who don’t already have this issue, I suggest you consider ceramic coating.. and follow up with a polish with uv protectant. I’ve also seen a few of the roof wraps folks have done covering these strips and that’s certainly a fairly inexpensive protective layer that looks aok. You can find pics on this forum should you chose to have a peek.

So the before is on the first page, here is my fix.......

Not sure coatings will eliminate this cracking if the car is often in the sun. I had mine ceramic coated and resealed twice a year by a detailer and the cracking still happened after ~18 months. It might be more the combination of heat cycling from the sun and bad paint adherence to these parts.

Wow, will take a look at mine ASAP!

For me, I did find a bit of exposed metal neat the front fender. Already some traces of rust. Can't wait for first service in december. Hard to see because it's ni between 2 panels but meh... Wan't happy to find it...
