So I just purchased a new 2020 Stinger. However I live in Texas and the car is in St. Louis. I opted to have it driven down instead of shipped to save me 1,000 bucks and a plane ticket (I was planning on going home to visit but Covid happened so basically I would of put the miles on it anyways). Before I sign anything should I have the car fully inspected again even though it’s under a 10 year warranty?

Getting the car pretty soon and advice is welcome.

Is it being delivered through a dealership arrangement or is this a secondary transaction?
If its new I would do the walk around inspection as if taking delivery of a new vehicle, Im sure whomever has the delivery contract is insured and probably require it anyhow. I personnaly wouldnt bother with a full mechanic inspection if its a 2020.

It’s being delivered by the dealership by one of their drivers.

Personally, I would not let some random jackass drive my brand new car down the interstate to bring it to me. Car hauler, sure. Me driving it back myself, sure. No way for someone else who guaranteed does NOT care. I agree with nhcowboy - if they're going to do this, the car needs to have some sort of film applied and seat covers.

I agree; drive it yourself. Get a plane ticket and go fetch it. The first 600 miles, just keep it in Sport mode to make maintaining RPMs between 2K and 4K easier (the break in period). Of course, there is that chance that you'll change your mind because you see something that is unacceptable. Life's risks in a first world country. Hah.

Welcome to the forum.

this is their “driver” as in it’s their job. Not some random off Craigslist.

Is your peace of mind worth the cost of a plane ticket?

Welcome to the Hive... protection film, and a really good inspection before sign off at the very least, but I personally would go fetch it myself

I mean y’all haven’t been answering the one question that I asked. I’m not worried about the car being driven down because of any damages occurred the dealership will be fixing it. The question was about getting it inspected again when it arrives.

I would also check with that particular dealer to see if you can refuse delivery if you find any problems after it gets to TX.

You inspect it. You test drive it. What could Kia find that you won't be looking for? If the least thing seems off kilter, refuse until Kia makes your short list of "off" items good.

I'm the biggest jackass a**hole I have ever seen so I don't care if someone drives my car.
