Probably should've seen him with his reverse lights but I was focusing on giving the SUV in front of me room to back up.

Not too bad in damages but still sucks.

That sucks. Probably before rear-cameras and sensors and that person just went backwards without assuming a car may be coming. Rear cross-traffic is brilliant on the cars I've had it on and the stinger is no exception. Sucks that you were on the receiving end. I had to use my horn at a car I saw coming at me from the rear view camera while backing up a few days ago.

Backup lights went off, signifying to you that they SAW you. Nope. Hopefully paintless dent removal will suffice?

I don't think it'll be that easy, unfortunately. There's a long scratch and an inverted dent with the paint almost peeling.

If they hit your wheel at all, make sure they check alignment and all the connecting suspension parts. That's the kind of thing that can be easily overlooked when there's cosmetic damage.

They only hit the passenger door. It was a Cadillac XTS so it had a pointy rear. Got lucky in that aspect, I guess.

Where do you see that? In the field of visible view in the video I don't see the backup lights turning off/on... Rather I see them on then the stinger moves forward and the reverse lights are no longer in the frame.

Since I got the G37 (2012), my solution to avoid most parking lots craziness is to park in the back, far away, exit similarly.

Good luck to the OP. What was the driver's excuse?

Right. I was confusing the brake lights for backup, and of course the brake lights went off when the Cadi started to back up.

My Wife hates me for this lmao.

Parking literally all the way back in no man's land. Especially in notorious Walmart parking lots.

That's me. :D End stall furthest from the door. Hah.

Sure hate that for you. Hope you can get it fixed without much fuss and worry. Kind of makes you cringe as you drive though a parking lot like that. The rear collision sensor is nice on these cars. Too bad the Cadillac didn't have it.

I purchased my '22 back in September. Last month, my wife and I were invited over to some friends house. For no particular reason, I decided we would take the older car that night instead of the Stinger. While parked in their dark driveway, their young teenage son needed to leave (unbeknowst to me) and he backed into the front of my Buick as he was parked in front of me and cracked the bumper on both of our cars. It wasn't bad enough to fool with insurance, although they offered. (Had no idea he needed to leave that night or I would not have parked there)
I hated the Buick was violated, but the wife and I were elated we weren't in the Stinger!

^^Brings back memories of my first motorcycle getting backed into then falling over. Similar scenario, friend's house, sibling needed to go, didn't pay attention.

So Sorry!!!! I know that's got to make you sick!!!

Not as sick as a decade later, forgetting to put the side stand down after a few hundred miles nonstop and slowly lowering the bike down because #700 is just too much to lift after point of no return :) Lesson learned.

Given the time of year, I think we all need to be extra vigilant in parking lots.

Avoiding parking lots altogether is the battle plan: as in, avoid driving through them, between lanes of parked cars. If I can go in, get an end stall, and leave the same way, I will always do it, even if I get in an extra walk to the front doors.

No excuse, they claimed fault on it.
Why didn't you hunk ? He/she would have stopped.
Honestly, I was too focused on the SUV backing up in front of me that I didn't see them. Could've been avoided if I was paying more attention to my surroundings.
