Just thinking out loud here while doing the initial detailing on my Stinger:

The dark chrome looks great on my HiChroma Red. But it shows a lot of water spots or marks from something like cosmoline that might have been a protectant used during shipping that the dealership didn't quite get off. I found that by using a spray detailer cleaner and some elbow-grease, it will polish to a full shine, but I think it is important to get this covered with wax as soon as you get it clean to prevent further work at keeping it "like new." I'm not a fan of coatings, just a good frequent waxing and hand washing, so I hope it works on the chrome as well as the finish.

Alternatively, you can remove the water spots by using a dedicated product for water spot removal. They usually contain chemicals that help dissolve the mineral in water that was baked onto the surface. Just simply spray on and slight rubbing with something like a foam applicator and all gone. No need to scrub much at all. I use Carpro Spotless, but there are many comparable products out there.

Just replied to another member whos got Xpel film coating done on his car. All my dark chrome trim was covered with the film by the dealer, then i went back and got all the gloss black trims covered too. Really tough and clear stuff which 'self-heals' should it get scratched, making it a great alternative to clear bras. Since i've gotten the car, no fingerprints or water spots on any of the chrome trim, and yet it still shines! To me its hands-down the best long term solution for the unique dark chrome on our Stingers!

The mirrors, the front fender trims, and some of the front grille on our car had weird oily looking spots. After washing the car I tried wax with the wax used on the entire car, Meguiars Ultimate, but did not work. I had some Meguiars Cleaner wax on hand and with no effort at all, the spots on all black chrome are gone.

Thank you for this tip! I developed the oily looking black spots on the black chrome trim, mirrors, etc. and came straight to the forums. I saw your solution and went right out and bought some Meguiars Cleaner wax. It took two coats and a little elbow grease, but it worked.

Thank you!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Your welcome! It was a new issue for me, never saw oily stuff like that on a car before, but we got that conquered now. I bet every time I wash the car I will need to do this.
