I have balding tires and they are due for replacement after taking it for an Oil change at Mavis. But what concerns me is a slight rubbing noise, almost scrapping like sound. It does not get worse by accelerating - I have a feeling that tire RPM's make the sound fade in with the other sounds of the car at high speed.
My first guess would be a rotor/brake issue even though I can hear it without touching the brakes slowing down just by coasting. If it were a wheel bearing, it would only get worse while going fast and start vibrating - but steering stays responsive and smooth - and I would assume a hub bearing is more of a humming noise than a scrapping metallic sound.
