I used a bit of leftover black plastic door/window screen material. Zero cost. If it rips, I have more.

I picked up a sheet of SS from mcmaster. It still looks good, don't see any rust. Installed 3 years ago, but the car isn't driven much. Not even 13K on it. I still have enough left for 2 or 3 more applications.
