Got a quote from Woodbridge Kia today,

For the above vehicle- GT2 AWD MSRP $53,105- 3 year lease 12k miles, $713 due at signing

Rebate: 8900
Koons Discount: 3105

WOW: 41,100
Destination: 900
Processing: 699
State Taxes: 1858.56
Tag Fees: 70.75

But the numbers do not add up. MSRP includes destination charge, and they are charging it again so I asked them about it and this is what the manager says,

Good question. The destination fee is charged on all new vehicles and every dealership will apply this fee. You're correct it is included in the MSRP and you wouldn't be charged if you were paying the invoice price. However because your price quote is well under the MSRP in this case, aprox 12k under it has to be added in again.

Then he followed up with this....

I've just been reminded we have some Kia vouchers that need to be used this week, using these vouchers, we're able to get you an even better price:

WOW: 38,826
Destination: 990
Processing: 699
Taxes: 1760.32

Tags: 70.75

Also, I understand you have a trade. We are offering an additional 500 off if you trade a vehicle with us.

Look...destination went up to 990. I dont know what to make of this dealer.

Run....

I just checked Kia's website. Destination charge is $900. The $990 could be a typo.

That doesn't explain why they want to re-charge it though.

Dude, Koons and some other guys plays this stupid games. They advertise great prices on the web but when you go to make the deal they start pulling this stuff. See my buddy Tyler over at Ourisman, he will work with you.

I bought a car from their Honda dealership in 2004... Didn't enjoy it at all.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
We would be happy to help. No games.

I bought my car from Koons in Owings Mills MD (sister dealership). They TRIED to pull the same crap. I've bought quite a few cars in my life, this experience was the worst/shadiest I've ever experienced. If you have not bought the car yet, shop somewhere else.

Yeah I haven't bought the car yet. I dont think I would buy from them even if they offer the lowest price. I dont like shady dealerships.

The attitude of the entire sales department is dependent on the attitude of the sales manager. If the SM is dishonest and plays games with the numbers, lies to get customers to come in, and changes things after you talk to them, walk away. If the owner tolerates that way of selling, then the entire dealership including the service department is suspect. Support honest dealers.

It's all been said. They don't deserve your business..

I've heard not good things about them and how they do business. They advertise some of the lowest prices online but when you go to make the deal, the start playing with the numbers. Go see my guy Tyler at Ourisman.

Yeah I went to see Tyler and actually test drove the car with him so hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can finally hit the trigger and buy the car. I figure I check with Woodbridge just for comparison, but obviously Woodbridge like to play games and I'm not having any of it.

I might add, compare prices -- total cost -- NOT monthly payments. It's far too easy for creative finance managers to slip extra profits into the payment numbers. Never tell them what your monthly payments can be. Work with final total price before finding a payment amount and then check carefully to make sure they don't sneak extra stuff in.

Unfortunately, I've only heard of one guy/gal on this forum who have had a good experience with Koons. They hounded me every other day when I first started shopping for a Stinger but the prices they gave me were way too good to be true. Reading and listening to others only sealed my decision not to even walk in their doors. Shady business goes on over there!

Doesn't hurt to deal with them online or by phone and demand a net final price. That's what I do ... let them know you are shopping. That works fine if you can order the car and don't have to take what's on their lot.
