Service intervals, different or the same?

Are the service intervals the same around the world.

In the UK, both the petrols are 6000 miles or 6 months and the diesel is 10000 miles or 12 months.

We get the 7 year/100000 mile warranty.

Is it the same where you are?

Dealer here recommended 6000mi or 6 months, whichever hits sooner. I'll go in for their recommended times since I have 3 yr of free maintenance from them anyway.

Yer I got the '3' service package included in my deal, also to keep the warranty valid, I'll get it serviced as recommended.

Interesting that the USA service is 6000 miles, where as in Canada it's 6000km, or would that be state dependent. As Alaska surely wouldn't be the same as Florida, or is it?

Yes here in alberta we do 5000 for the first one and 6000 for all others

I never follow this 6000km/6000mi myth anymore. Although, I never let the car run more than 12000km without an oil change. I always follow the manual, or the oil life monitor (not sure if the Stinger has this).

My service book says 15000 km but the dealer is saying 10k.
Australian warranty is 7 years unlimited km and transfers to the second owner

The manual in Canada (page 7-14) states 5000KM due to the weather for the 3.3L and we don't have the 2.0L option.

So from that, a car purchased in Alaska will have service interval of 6000 miles, where just next door in the land of maple, it drops to around 3000 miles. That's crazy. Weather can't be that different.

I have noticed that Kia's services are sooner then other manufacturers, my sportage crdi is every 10000 miles, where as other diesel SUVs are 20000.

Is this how they make their money, long warranty, but you'll be servicing your car more often. Just a theory.

same here, but was still told by my Kia dealer it ha to be serviced every 3000mi. to keep warranty valid, I think it just depends on the individual dealership to see if they are okay with it.

Weirdly, the warranty Kia gives to their local market is the worse in the world, lol. We only get 3 years, 60,000km.

They also recommend servicing every 10,000km (~6,000miles) or 6 months.

Not so much, Alaska falls under the extreme conditions too so the lower miles. It's the prolonged cold temps calling for the service, not the dealership to cash in. The one I work at we give free oil changes as long as you bought the car there and follow the Kia manual for service intervals.

Unless they gave you some sort of extra warranty that is a complete lie. The dealer cannot decide to honor or not honor the factory warranty that is all decided by KMA.

While Kia doesn't have the best reputation among dealership experience, it's really a problem among all car companies. Even if you go to a BMW or Mercedes dealer, you'll still have a crapshoot of if you'll have a good experience. You'll get bad apples at Kia dealerships, but you'll always find the ones in the rough that are the diamonds. You just need to do your research.
