After over a year and a half of researching and obsessing, I finally got my black 2021 GT in May. I babied it for the long drive home that day and for the next few days running errands, etc.

A few days later, I was taking it back to the dealer to get some planned work done. As I pulled away from a stop sign, the car sputtered and died on the side of the road. After an hour wait for a tow, I got it to the dealership and eventually left with a loaner.

The next two days waiting for a diagnosis were agonizing. Finally I got a call saying that the fuel pump went out and I'd get an update soon. After 4 days of unreturned calls, I found out that a replacement part was on its way....but it was in a shipping container and would not get to the US for another month and there was no estimate of when it would clear customs and make its way to the dealership. Once it's received and installed, they said it would be another 4-5 days so they can send it to the body shop to repair the scratch on the front bumper

As of today, I've owned the car for a month and the dealership has had it for almost the entire time. My first payment is due in a couple of weeks.

Due to the buying experience, and now this issue, I have opened a case with Kia to get any help I can with the problems and they said they would work on reimbursing me for the loan payment.

Sorry for the long post, but I needed to vent. I know it's just a car, and I only had it for a few days, but I'm having serious withdrawals!!

Dang, feel for ya..

It's not just a car, it's a Stinger! I would be battling apoplexy if that happened to me. I hope your wait ends happily and there are no repeat WAITS. Amen.

UPDATE

I ended up getting the car back a few weeks ago, a little earlier than planned, and I was ecstatic! They replaced the fuel pump, a few other issues and put a new battery in because they noticed that the original one had some problems.

Kia offered to reimburse me for a couple of loan payments as "goodwill", but as I looked at the fine print, I started getting concerned. There is a lot of language about releasing them from not only this claim, but any and all future claims. Not too comfortable with that*!

On Thursday, I reached out to a local lemon law lawyer and he stated that I might be eligible for a replacement or at the very least, he said he could get me more than they were offering and get the legal fees covered. I explained that it's not about the money, etc and I want to keep the car, I just don't like the idea that I can't bring up any claims in the future*.

*Yesterday, I was running errands and I stopped to get the mail on the way home. I left the car running as I grabbed the mail and noticed that I didn't hear the engine. I got in and the engine was dead and all of the indicator lights were on. I turned everything off and started it again. It sputtered a few times (like it did when it initially broke) and died. So now it's at another dealership and I have to wait a few days to see what's wrong with it this time.

Might have to give that lawyer a call back...

Get rid of that lemon car. It’ll just be headaches down the road. They fix something and it’s just keeps breaking down.

I assume that is "used"?????

Regardless of the direction you choose to deal with this, make the payment and don't wait for them to reimburse. Even if they get around to reimbursing you, should you choose to, if the payment is not made, bank/finance co. is still going to dock your credit for not making the payment.

Bank does not care if you got a lemon because their job was to finance you and that is their only obligation.....had an engine replaced and Kia had the car for over a month but I still made the payment even though I did not have the car. No longer have the car but my credit did not take a hit either.....don't cut off your nose to spite your face........

Sorry to hear that, I feel your pain. I have a R8 V10 plus and these are the list of problems I had:
1. Exhaust paint peeling
2. Several areas of interior cabin cracking and rattling noise
3. Driver's side window motor malfunctioned window won't go up, motor had to be changed
4. Left side blinker fault they need to remove the whole f*cking bumper and when bumper was placed back after replacing the blinker, bumper was not put back well and big gaps can be seen between bumper and the rest of the chassis, took the car 3 times and dealer can't fix the problem yet, they are sending me to a f*cking body show to get bumper aligned
Notice that this is a >200,000 USD car that is about 4 years old and less than 20k miles on it.

So this happens to every car and don't get me start taking about the problems I had with my Porsche 981.
