Hi everyone

I'm new here, got a 2019 Kia Stinger, and I'm struggling to remove the SD card, normally when you take an sd card out you push in and it pops out, is this not the case with the stinger as it's not happening. Thanks

Its not spring loaded, you just have to get hold of the end and it will pull out, not all sockets use the spring loaded mechanism.
Not usually much reason to take it out though, your Sat Nav won't work without it.

Can't you typically update them with more current maps? That's how the SD cards in my other vehicles have worked

Thanks Vince

The software won't update in my Stinger, and some of the other suggestions state you need to take it out to load it to a laptop to update, so kind of stuck really, thought just buy the latest sd card.

I pulled my SD card and downloaded the update directly to it on my laptop; took several hours; put the SD card back in the car; the update, as I was driving around, took twenty to thirty minutes.

I'm in the midst of downloading the update right now. It's been painfully slow ... I guess the Kia server is inundated, since it won't serve up more than about 4 MB/s. I'm at 30% after 20 minutes, so it looks like it will take a total of an hour or more just to download. I hate to hear that it takes another 20-30 minutes to install!

They all work they way in this group. I updated my partner's elantra and it took forever. Then she sold it a week later...

So you just overwrote the OEM card with the new files?

I used a fresh SD card, and per my new thread, I wonder what to do the OEM one ... put it back in the slot or leave the new card in place!

Lol. Yeah, the download from Kia took a good hour and the install took another 25 minutes, but now it's all done.

I still have to do the update for my Stinger. Car sat forever, i expect the maps are at least 2 years behind. I ordered a new 32GB SD card that way if the update messes up I still have the original card.

Just overwrote on the OEM SD card. I doubt that an old version would interface with updated computer files. You've got a spare SD card if you ever need one.

I just did the update. Took about 45 minutes. Used a new SD card and kept the original one in case of a screw up

What I find amusing is that updates are free.

My partner has a 2017 CLK 250 and asked me to update and you have to pay every time you do it. Kind of stupid

That has been the "model" for a long time (charging you for updates). I've had cars that cost a couple hundred bucks for updates (which I never paid). I'm very pleased Kia has taken the initiative to offer free updates. The only thing better would be OTA (over the air) automatic updates, and I'm sure Kia will make that available in a couple years.
