Hi - Anyone else with RWD find the front end feels a bit light under hard acceleration and that you have to constantly adjust pulls to left and right? I know the back is going to sit down and the front will naturally rise up but my only other performance type car experience is with 4 wheel drive so I’m a bit new to hoofing about in my RWD GTS ;) Had a good dry and sunny day today in UK and I became a bit of a grey haired hooligan....:D

You're sending 365 horses worth of power to the back half of the car, it's going to pull you hard back and up. It's just the nature of RWD.

Funny thing is, even on the AWD models, Launch Control does 100% to the rear also, so it's no different.

But it's like 1deg in the UK atm with summer tyres .... it's not going to go well even if you drive carefully!

pretty sure its 80% .......................

We don't get AWD in the UK, only RWD, so it doesn't really matter how much an AWD sends to the rear for us ;):p

Yeah I always heard that it was 80% even in launch control.

I thought I read that by default it's 60/40 but it can send up to 80 to the rear wheels.

It's from a few review videos, where they were at the testing event in CA.

Any mode except Sport and Custom (with the transmission not in Sport) is 50/50, Sport mode, Custom mode (with transmission in Sport) is 20/80, and launch control is 0/100 until you hit 40mph-ish.

It's not in any manuals or spec sheets, but they had Kia reps on-site and were provided informational material, so I'm inclined to believe it.

Got any links? I ask because I just read the Kia webpage it is a little vague only saying it is rear wheel biased but *can* send up to 50% to the front wheels if detects slippage and *can* send up to 80% to the rear wheels in sport mode.

If that was the case the back end would break loose as TC is off in Launch mode .............I'm thinkin those reviewers were not correct .................no biggy for me as I'll likely use it very infrequently !

The only one I can remember off the top of my head was the review from TheStraightPipes, but I remember hearing it in a couple others.

I also can't really find any other information, so maybe it was just bad info from the Kia reps on site. However, the fact that Kia doesn't give different 0-60 times for AWD and RWD when the AWD should be a bit faster off the line if it's sending some power to the front also makes me think it does 100 to the back. Just my 2 cents, though.

? What about the RWD model? TC is required off for pretty much all cars for launch control and those don't break out, you still have stability control on so it's not an issue.

My AWD GT doesnt "hunch" down in the rear when launching from a dead stop which is a completely different experience I've had with my prevuous RWD cars so my sense is that there is definitely front wheel pull at launch and when rolling ........someone will figure it out ! all good

I agree but I only noticed it in comfort mode specially if there are a few undulations in the road . Sport mode seems much more stable.

Does your S have the limited slip differential LSD , if not that may be why it is getting Squirrley as we say in the US . Just a thought .

That makes sense to me because the first few feet when you take off the back squats down a little and all of a sudden you can feel The front start the pool then you're gone . I wish they would put out a video on the all-wheel-drive for the stinger, like they have for the Hyundai H track, everybody else has a video BMW Mercedes Audi Subaru come on Kia step it up .

I’ve not really noticed anything in Comfort Mode but then I keep to Sport Mode for any stupidity :D The roads are rubbish around my way - so lots to cause the backend to kick and jump..

Yeah LSD on all UK models. I’m expecting the backend to want to slide a bit (and it does). I feel I’m fighting a bit to keep a straight line - that’s probably a better description than my first observation of light front end.

If you are flooring it in a straight line and you feel like you have to fight to keep the car straight, then I would say something is wrong.

Without a car (7 more days to go!) I cannot give a comparison, or my experiences.

However, I'll point out that the default car has Summer Tyres fitted as standard (For non-UK'ers, we don't get an option for all-weather or different tyre set up) and these are designed for temperatures above 7-8 deg's (Celsius). At present most of the UK is below 5 degs's at best, so it could be just a result of you being too eager with your right foot and the weather conditions not being suitable.
