I picked up the round Kia Motors badge from Sal @Kia Stinger (great price and ridiculously fast turnaround on shipping).

As I was installing it I noticed that the badge is flat but there is a slight curve to the bumper where it’s mounted. I applied pressure for 30-60 seconds when installing it but I could tell it was slightly raised up at the top and bottom of the badge. This morning after getting to work I saw it had separated even more.

As anyone else had this issue with the chrome badge or the blue version?

Overall the badge looks great, just not happy with the fitment.

hm...my blue badge had a teeny tiny mismatch near the bottom, but nothing like yours. However, I also removed all the posts from my badge so I could place it more where I wanted it, so maybe that might be why mine didn't have that much separation. I think @Kamauxx also has this badge--maybe he can shed some light?

It's an OEM badge that was designed for a different (basically flat) panel on a different KIA vehicle, and thus does not have the mating surface curvature to match the nose panel of the Stinger. The only permanent solution that comes to mind is to make or modify a backer plate with the necessary curvature, then adhere it to the back of the badge as a spacer. There doesn't look to be enough thickness there to try and contour the badge itself.

I had to cut both posts off because they were way wider than the stock holes.

What’s interesting is one of the pictures on the store page shows it with an extra bezel or backing plate. The rest of the pictures just show the badge as I got it.

Yes, I mentioned that in an inquiry to Sal when I first saw his listing - the first picture is of a screen printed 2D badge, not the 3D piece in the other pictures. I had to ask which one would ship (the reply was the 3D one in the other pictures). I don't think that first picture should be on there ...

I didn’t even notice that it wasn’t the 3D version. I like everything about the badge, just wish it fit better.

At this point for him, is it necessary to just remove it or can it be remedy in this state? Reason why I ask is because I am also experiencing the same result with the Custom Stinger Badge.

That's a question for Sal. Seems like a pretty stand up guy for backing the parts he supplies - I'm sure he'll work with you to find a solution.

Mine is the blue version. It doesn't fit like the one above either.

I’m wondering if because of the 3D effects, the badge is thicker and can’t flex like the blue version to fit the contour.

My blue version fits fine but I also had to remove two posts since nothing lined up with the existing holes in the bumper. Can you move the badge down a fraction of an inch with less curvature? Not sure if there is less “curve” or not. Would have to be looking at it from different angles.

Down would get it into more curvature, there’s a horizontal body line I used to measure against. And up only has about 1/2” until it gets to the panel gap with the hood.

Hello, my friends! Let's see... Yes, there was one other person who had an issue - and if I'm not mistaken - they added a little two-sided tape to the top and bottom. Since that was the only time I saw this happen, I wasn't sure if it was an issue with that particular bumper - or an issue with the curvature of the badge. It seems to be that it's the curvature of the badge...

@DaJackson, if you want to play around with double sided tape or a solution, that would be cool. If you prefer to send it back as it's not working out the way it should be, let me know and I'll refund the order and the shipping on the way back...

Thanks, just an FYI I sent you an email too. I’d rather work on trying to get the badge to conform to the bumper better. I have some ideas.

Can you source the blue version of he badge (without the 3D depth effects) but in chrome?

These are the types of reasons why I went with the E badge but I really like that kia motors badge as well. Good luck!

My blue one fits perfectly fine. But that may also be chalked up to where I installed it on the bumper. From what I can see, there's no gap. Then again, the blue badge looks very different than the chrome one.
