EDIT: O have included a video of the car doing that my husband recorded while driving back from the beach on the high way.
Hi new member here. I have a 2019 Kia Stinger. I have had it a couple of years and have 27k miles on it. Recently it seems there erratic and inconsistent employment during hard or soft acceleration in any drive mode. Drivability is normal and out of no where the stinger locks between 2200-4000 rpm. This happens during normal driving conditions without speeding. It will do this even at 40 mph.

Thanks!

Howdy and welcome. That sounds weird. Please explain. I don't know what RPM lock is, but it sounds really bad. It sounds like when you push into that range that the engine just hangs fire in there and won't come back down?! The only thing I've ever heard of that would do that is something sticking in the throttle linkage (but now we have electronic "linkages"?) or even a sticky go pedal (I've experienced that one, long ago, on an old car).

Here is a video of it actually happening

I edited my original post with a video that shows what exactly it’s doing.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Aha. This is "limp mode", or a version of it anyway. The ECU needs a "reflash" (and I have no idea what that is, beyond the name). There is also a TSB out for rough shifts, where the trans is "reflashed"; but I haven't bothered with that one because I don't have rough shifts, and "if it ain't broke, don't mess around with it". Usually "limp mode" will throw error codes on your dash. Nothing of that sort, I take it, is occurring? Is the car stock?

This is peculiar. I thought limp mode is accompanied by a CEL. I'd take it to the dealer ASAP.

Maybe, (I'm supposing this is not a mechanical issue) if you disconnect the battery for a couple hours and let the ECU reset it will return to normal behavior. But my guess is even if that fixes it, it may only be temporary without some other type of maintenance.
